A few questions for WORKS
A few questions for WORKS
Hello,
I am currently in the evaluation stages of what I want to do overall with my Evo. My plan is to run up the milage to around 20K as I know that will be a majority of when I might need to take it to the dealer. After that I am wanting to do a "staged" approach. Right now I am trying to decide on what vendor will suit my needs...a vendor I can stay with throughout the life of the car. So here are some questions:
1. Does WORKS offer a staged approach to upgrading an Evo. What is the roadmap (as in a list of upgrades) and how many stages do you expect before development ceases?
2. Does WORKS certify different shops to do upgrades, a lot of them at one time for instance, in different parts of the country? I live in Oklahoma and am unsure if I can drive out to SanFran just for this (but still might be an option). Will WORKS stand by a particular shop somewhere here in the midwest?
3. What advantages do you have over other vendors for the Evo (dont be shy!)...why should I go with WORKS over Vishnu, Vividracing, Bucsher, or some of the others?
In short, I am looking for a tuner shop that I can feel like I can partner with and recommend their products to my friends. The Evo is my first 'sports' car to be very honest, and I want nothing but the best for her. Can that be found at WORKS?
Thanks

Karash,
Have you looked at their website?
You won't need a shop to install some of their products. LIke the Brain reflash and the Exhale. You could probably do those two things without thumbs.
Advantages: Simplicity, price, quality, customer service.

Thank you for your inquiry, it is always good to see people doing their homework before investing their time and money into a hobby that, as we all know, can quickly drain both.

To answer your question regarding staging, yes, WORKS does offer a staged approach. We currently have 5 stages planned for engine development and 4 stages for suspension development. With every engine upgrade we offer, we provide proper tuning for those upgrades by way of specific ECU flashes specifically designed to compliment the upgrade. As far as development ceasing is concerned, I don’t anticipate our development on Evo products to cease. WORKS is 100% dedicated to working on the Evo. As long as Mitsubishi continues to build Evos, this is the car we’ll be tuning.
Although I can’t tell you specifically when we’ll have contacts in Oklahoma, WORKS is in the process of developing a network of Authorized WORKS Dealers (AWD) across the country. However, as mayhem mentions, the majority of our products can be installed by the people who buy them if they have a basic mechanical inclination. Also, we include step-by-step instructions and tips for installing and removing our products.
With regard to other tuners, I’m sure every company out there has their strong points and each offers some good products, but I think what is important about WORKS is that we are tuner specific. We offer a comprehensive line of products literally from the ground up--from wheels and suspension to motor and drive train products. We were one of the first tuners to start development on the Evo in the US. As an example, our development began back in 2002 with the Evo VII GSR, and we were working on our first Evo VIII within a week of its launch in the US.
All of our products are made with the highest quality materials and all carry a 3-year warranty to match the factory warranty. However, our most important advantage is the fact that we have a staff of automotive engineers who are not only dedicated to developing high quality products, but high quality products specifically designed for the Evo.
I hope this info helps you get a better idea of what we have to offer and some insight into our company philosophy. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other specific questions I can answer for you. Also, be sure to check out our website for additional product information. www.worksrally.com

Hi Works, I have a few questions for you as well if you have the time. The first question concerns my exhaust. I have a turbo back exhaust composing of an O2 eliminator downpipe, 3" cat, and cat back from there. Will the relash be able to work in conjunction with the pieces that I already have? I know that without testing these particular pieces there is no exact tuning answer that you can give me, but is there a flash that will at least attempt to take advantage of what is already installed? I also have an AEM intake system that I would want you to be aware of. The next question is does the boost restriction pill need to be removed in order for the boost control reflash to work? It is not a big deal one way or another, I just want to make sure I have the car set up correctly for the reflash to work. The third question is can I at a later time utilize a different set of cams with the reflash? I would expect that this would be easier done once you have a network of tuning partners set up across the nation (I am in Dallas Texas), but I was just curious as to if you were possibly working with some aftermarket cams to see how the reflash would need to be changed in order to take advantage of them. The fourth question is will I still run into the fuel cutoff when the ECU thinks that there is too much air being introduced into the engine for the available injectors to keep up with? The fifth and last question is will adding something like the Unorthadox Racing underdrive crank pully affect the way the ECU opperates, or do I not need to worry about this as it is only a matter of freeing up parasitic drag on the engine itself? I am sorry about all of the questions, I just want to be sure of what to expect and to make sure that your product will operate correctly in my particular application. Thanks for your time.
