Croxx Plate 2 Stock Spacers

I recently bought and installed a Croxx Plate II on my Evo 8 and I've been wondering if I was supposed to keep the stock spacers that were between the stock bars and the frame of the car.

I assumed that I needed to keep these because I was told by WORKS that the plate gives an extra 3/8 inches of ground clearance. Without the spacers, the ground clearance would be improved by a lot more than this amount.

In addition, the instruction say to use the factory hardware, and it seems the factory bolts would be much too long without the big spacers.

However, there are a few things that make me think that perhaps the spacers did not need to be kept. For instance, some people have trouble getting these to clear their downpipes, but mine fit easily wit 2+ inches to spare (with the spacers, of course). It seems like the hole on the plate would be a lot closer to lining up with my downpipe and actually being necessary if the big spacers weren't there.

All this leads me to these questions:

Why are those big spacers there in the first place? Possibly to make the original bars clear the stock exhaust?

Was I correct in leaving the stock spacers with the CP II?

What would happen if these spacers weren't there? Would the CP II still fit? This would provide a lot more ground clearance if it were possible.

Finally, did I put the provided spacer washers in the correct place? I put them in between the plate and the stock spacer on the 5th hole just like it says on the instructions, but I'm not sure if they go above the or below the stock spacers or even if I needed them at all.

Thanks in advance to WORKS or anyone else who can help.

I took some pictures so everyone can see what I'm talking about:

And look what I found on one of the stock bars!

Those are not factory spacers. The OEM tie bars did not use spacers. It's possible that whoever installed your down pipe added those spacers so that the tie bars would clear the down pipe. With an OEM down pipe or the WORKS Exhale Downpipe the washers included in with the Croxx plate are the only thing necessary, no extra spacers needed. I don't know what down pipe you have but I would try it without the spacers. Because those spacers are so thick I'm guessing those aren't the factory bolts either. The factory bolts are pretty short and probably wouldn't reach with those spacers so you might have to source some shorter bolts from the hardware store.

Well GG Vishnu for confusing me with their damn spacers.

What size bolt should I be looking for and what kind of washers should I use for the ground-end of the plate? (between the head of the bolt and the plate)
