I have the p1 and will be getting the p2 very soon. I have a cone filter. Does the car wrok better with the stock intake box or a cone filtr. I have noticed you dont make an aftermarket intake. ANy reason for this? please advise on which intake is best for the p2 with a turboback exhaust.

Works has a intake system in development.

Stock air box works way better than big cone filters, it was tuned for stock intake. I have heard the HKS intake works fine with the P2.

Hi W2 –

We did 1000 miles of road testing between the stock filter and the RMR filter. At first it seemed like the RMR had given us more performance but in the long run it did not. I think what it did do was take a little edge off the Evo and made it easier for us to drive. Over a six-month period of testing we came to the conclusion that we were driving the car better and faster and the open element was robbing us of some small amount of power.

I say “us” because my wife and I both drive (and will both race) the Evo. As a matter of fact on one occasion I switched back to the stock air box and didn’t tell her. She came back from a morning drive and was commenting on how much better the car was running and asked what I had done. I reached into a box and pulled out the RMR filter, she just shook her head and laughed.

The RMR was running way too rich, especially at high altitude. No amount of ECU resetting ever made it right. Until something better comes along that makes a true, noticeable improvement, it’s the stock air box for us.

I have the P2 and a cone filter and don't notice any problems. I really put the cone filter on for the sound rather than the performance, but I would love it if Works comes out with one designed to work with the P2.

WORKS RULES!!!
