I'm sure it's a very safe car, especially in bad weather, but 3589lbs turbo lag is not my idea of a sporty car.
I might go back to autocrossing the S13.
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
K&N drop-in filter
ATP "divorced and transformable" downpipe (leaks stinky exhaust...must be fixed soon)
Cat-back twin-tailpipe exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers & DynoMax resonator. Installed by Top Gun Muffler, Fort Walton Beach.
Computer tuned for autocross in the STU class (stock boost tables)
Suspension Modifications:
Whiteline rear swaybar, and alignment by the only tire shop in town that could do an alignment on a car this low.
I asked for zero toe, and all the negative camber they could give me at the front, and the guy said anything past -1.1 degree would mess with the toe.
So, I've got -1.1 deg front, -1.0 deg rear.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
Tried several different kinds of tires.
Dunlop Direzza Star-Spec got me good results, until one day when they had one heat-cycle too many and suddenly sucked.
Got tired of replacing tires every 13,000mi
Future Modifications:
Make front camber more adjustable.
I'd like new high-quality, low-friction dampers. Too bad new dampers seem to always come in coilovers with ungodly stiff springs. The car rides stiff enough as it is.
