3.0 and 3.5 Mivec Engines
Hi. I'm new here. I'm from Australia and drive a 97 TF Magna, (Diamante in the US). It's a 3.0l manual sedan and I've swapped the muffler, filter and added an aftermarket stereo.
I'm trying to find info on the above mentioned engines. Also, is it possible to get either of these engines from a wreck or an importer? Or are they extremly rare?
Also, does anyone know about a V8 Mitsu has? I think it's a 4.5 or 4.8 litre engine.
Thanks in advance,
Redav

Mitsubishi designed a 4.5l V8 GDI for their Proudia/Dignity (JDM only) luxo-sedans. It was all-aluminum and built by Hyundai based on 's design and specs.
The engine specs are NOT particularily impressive: 206kw @ 5000rpm and 412Nm @ 4000rpm.
You might be better off with a 3.5l V6 MIVEC.

Realy......that is quite interesting, but I still highly doubt that the V8 I saw was a Mitsubishi built engine. What is the output of the 3.5L V6 Mivec? What about looking into the 3000GT engine, that would be a easy upgrade from what I have read, and would be a mind blower with the twin turbos.

The GTO / GT3000 is the twin turbo version of my 3.0 engine. It's about 209kW. The 3.5 Mivec is about 194kW, (according to www.autospeed.com). The V8 Mitsu has is a DOHC job and I'm yet to see it's specs so thanks. We also believe the V8 should fit the Magna as the 3.5 is available as an option in the Proudia but it was only built for 12 - 18 months. The V8 in the Magna you're talking about is probably the RWD drag car down the Gold Coast? I doubt it's a Mitsu too.
Apparently there's a turbo version of the 3.5. I know there's a tuning house in Perth who have built a twin turbo 3.5 TJ Magna. It's currently using 5 pound boost and will be tuned to 10 pound soon and will aim for 15 I think. It's an interesting development.

The V8 Magna I saw was racing in a small V8 supercars style event. Obviously not the professionals but was good to see it all the same. I am sorry I can not recall where I saw it though, as this would have had to have been a good 2 - 3 years ago.

Here you go lads, have a stab at guessing the engine.

Anyone here from the US who is familiar with the Mivecs? Can they be sourced?
