Metra dash kit

So I've been looking to upgrade my outdated alpine head unit. I bought it back in 08 soon after I bought my evo 9 so it no longer works with the new generation iPhones and what not. I'm looking to go with a double din touch screen unit but I couldn't find any info on the Metra dash kit that comes with the head unit to install it. Worst case, if it fits like crap it'll be a temporary solution until I find something similar to the orbital kit. Just wanted to see if any members out there have installed the Metra kit on their evo's so I could get an idea of how well it fits.

Figured I'd update this thread with my experience using the Metra kit. I'd give the kit a 3.5/5 rating when it comes to fitment. The hvac relocation piece fits pretty well but the radio trim piece leaves about a 3/16" gap from the bottom side of the radio to the actual trim piece. I'll probably replace that piece with an OEM unit once I can locate it. My biggest disappointment is that the kit doesn't match the finish of the dash. It's a smooth matte finish. I'll update the post with some pictures for anyone that's interested. Overall I guess it's not a bad kit for the $10 I paid for it.

As promised here's what the dash kit looks like. Not a fan of the matte finish but I found a new OEM piece through Japan parts that I'll be picking up to replace atleast the radio surround.

I like that a good deal actually!
Is the sun and the angle the screen is at ever an issue?

There is. I'm planning on getting an anti glare screen protector for it to see if it'll help with the issue.

Get the ebay kit. Should cost $60 and comes with upper and lower piece along with new HVAC stickers and some of them even come with a new wiring harness.

OP, did your metra kit come with a new double din bracket? I hated having to modify my OEM one, still doesn't sit perfect. How was the new bracket if it came with it?
