Question Surge tank decisions: Is a surge tank necessary if you keep your tank full?

I am wondering if there is a fuel starvation issue if you keep your tank fuel? I am finding that a surge tank is nice to have, but looks to be expensive! I am running a AMS 1000whp fuel system with dual walbro 255s .
  • I would have to redo/make new fuel lines, add an extra inline fuel pump, or run 1 big inline fuel pump such as a Magnafuel 750 ?
  • Surge tank options: Radium Engineering (dual internal, 1 or 2 inline pumps), used AMS surge tank (only one pump). I am not sure what else is out there?
  • Locations: I liked the idea of using the EVAP canister location for a surge tank to free up room in the trunk? Ad/Dis to this because in the trunk safer in case of accident or EVAP location no fuel to leak inside the trunk ect.

What are peoples thoughts, thanks!

Full tank does fix the surge issue but who wants to cart an extra 60lb+ to the finish line just to prevent surge?

That does answer my question!

It is something I would like to add when the time comes that I am worried about the extra weight. Right now, I was worried about fuel starvation just from a full stand point.

kevinTME What surge tank are you running and pump or pumps?

Thanks for your response!
