Tial MV-S wastegate spring setting

I just finished installing my SS FP red and I'm kind of lost when it comes to setting the spring . I plan on running a dual e85/93 map & hitting 500hp on e85 . I'm not exactly sure what boost the red usually makes at that point so Im looking for some advice on my spring setting ? Thanks in advance !

I would suggest not more than. 1.5bar spring pressure. Probably like 1.2 that way the pump tune is plenty able to use correction. That's me personally. We used 1 bar and had no problems 30+ using ebc. Also plumbed using what's called fast response method using both ports. BB fp red on. 2.0 s2 cams.

Fast Response Method? Could you elaborate on that method?

Sure. This method works well when dealing with fast spooling turbos. Quite common, I set my subaru up the same way. May have other names.

alternatively the MAC 46A-AA1-JDBA-1BA is a better option and needs even less spring to operate at high boost. The only reason I suggest less spring, is to have failsafe boost levels below 93 levels

Sure try that method. I saw full boost around 3800 BB red s2 stock exhaust mani and Skunk intake mani.

I would put the 1.1 or 1.2 bar spring in it. Will make boost very controllable for pump gas (23-26psi depending on what your tuner likes to do), and it will still easily make over 30 for E85. The single scroll housing will creep to about 21-22 PSI regardless of what spring you put into. The two I've installed did really well with the 1.1 bar spring.

If you are only using one port on gate I would recommend as close to boost spring pressure as possible. so if you run 30psi you want a 30psi spring if you can get it. reason being is fast spool is lost as soon as valve cracks off seat. on a 25psi gate it is likely cracking at 15psi with back pressure blowing it open. 1 bar spring starts to open at around 9 psi.

the fast spool method is using two port. the top port can add boost to the spring pressure. but on smaller turbos you have to keep in mind you can twice the turbine back pressure as boost pressure. so if you start with ten psi spring and add your 20psi boost to top you have effectively 30 psi spring. but on 20 psi you can 35 psi back pressure. so you have a net 5 psi blowing spring open.
