Gas gauge doesn't work, stuck

My gass gauge is stuck at half a tank. I took it to the dealership and they checked everything and concluded that it was the cluster and ordered a new one under warranty. I got the car back today and went to fill the tank and guess what, it's still stuck at half a tank. Any ideas what censors, computer, wires or connections I can tell them to check since they don't seem to have any idea how to fix it? Has this happened to anyone else? It sucks not knowing exactly how much gas you have in the tank.

The car is and always has been 100% stock. How do you go about fixing the float problem if that's what it is, is it a PITA?

You'll need to remove the fuel pump assembly and check it out. It may either be stuck in a fixed position or faulty.

Anyways It takes about 10 min to remove the assembly. Pop the bottom (bench part) of your back seat out and you'll see the circle of screws holding in the assembly on the drivers side.

Just upgrade to a Walboro while you're at it. The float is your fuel level sender to your gas gauge. Take that stock one off, and since you're there switch it out to a 255 Mitsubishi techs. don't know shee***t.

Probably the float. I always fill up from 3/4 tank full and occasionally from the 1/2 tank mark. So once or twice after filling up it took about 5 minutes for the gauge to read full tank. I guess the float was getting stuck, but that was a while ago and it hasnt happened again.

true , but if he is taking it out, might as well replace it with 255 that is cheap and will need later on anyways

I have had floater issues as well. Mainly on the passenger side floater. I have a new one on the way to see if that solves any problems. Keep us posted if you get it fixed because I have the same problem.

Agreed. Might as well change out the fuel pump to a 255. It won't give him any more gas than his motor already demands.
