Hey guys, I am hearing this noise from serpentine belt area. Just replaced new serpentine belt and also got timing belt service done recently. And then after 2-3 days I started hearing this noise. Posted video on youtube and link is below. Any help is appreciated.

hey man your new belt is gonna be tighter than your old one just because its new. it mght be juust tight enough to cause a little more stress on the tensioner and idler pullies. this might make the bearings squeek or cause noises. might be your issue,

There's a long thread about the belt noise on the evo 9, I believe a bracket needs to be changed, but I can not tell you for sure that's your problem, either way, start reading there's lots of input about the problem on said thread.
PS: I have a noise, and I will change that bracket when my timing belt is changed.

This is the same noise every 05-06 EVO has, and this topic has never been answered!
My 06 9MR does this at random... I am about to replace the Serp. Belt and go through every pulley with high temp grease.

****s annoying!!

Other than the noise how do you like the Gates belt so far?

THE FIX IS THE ENGINE SUPPORT BRACKET! The timing belt rubs this. This problem has been solved AND stickied.

1091A133 Bracket Cylinder Block.

I have that same noise. What doesn't make sense is that if it is the engine support bracket why does baby powder on the belt make it stop for a few days? It also stops once the car is heated up. Not saying it's not the bracket but just trying to get some input.

If it's not a worn serp. belt... it's this bracket. This has been BEAT like a dead horse.

Part Number MR984375 Adjuster, Timing Belt Tension Qty 1
Part Number MD369999 Pulley, Timing Belt Tension Qty 1
Part Number 1091A133 Bracket Cylinder Block Qty 1 *****Updated New Part from Mitsu that supposedly fixes the noise problem. Original bracket was machined incorrectly by supplier to Mitsu*****
Part Number 1145A038 Belt, Valve Timing Qty 1
Part Number MR984778 Belt, Balancer Timing Qty 1
Mitsubishi Techline Case #140114
Service Description: Removed and replaced Timing Belt Adjuster, Tensioner Pulley, and Bracket as per Techline. Replaced Timing Belt and Balance Belt while Tensioner Bracket was replaced under warranty.

They also replaced the crankshaft sensor blade on the car but left it off the reprinted repair bill they gave me. Oh well. Total cost for me was $159.76 for the Tming Belt and the Balance Belt that I had them put in new as opposed to the old ones.

You can have the tech at your dealer call the techline and look at my techline case number to see all the part numbers for your repair if needed.

I'll let you guys know if I hear the noise anymore over the coming weeks!
I dunno what to think other than just replace the idler pulley, tensioner pulley, and said bracket... that way all bases are covered!!

I realize why I have no power mods... Maintenance Mods are killing me!!!

I just dealt with the noise until I rebuilt my engine.

I would just wait until you need a timing belt service...then do it.

I have been dealing with this for a year, any way to machine this piece instead of replacing this part?

i replaced all the pulleys and a new belt. Sound went away for 2 days and came back. Also baby powder method works for me, but for about 20 minutes. This is annoying as hell, car sounds like a giant POS.
