Alt. belt tensioner pulley alternative
Alt. belt tensioner pulley alternative
Say that 3x's fast, lol.
The pulley on the alternator belt tensioner (MD373939) was going bad, and I wasn't in the mood to spend $122.84 (shipped price from Mitsubishiparts.net, the cheapest place I've found for this part). So, I found a cost effective alternative so all you have to do is replace the idler pulley instead of the entire assembly.
The pulley is a Gates part:
NAPA Part # 38005 - $25 (saved $97.84)
Also, I went ahead and got Gates alternator belt while I was at it:
NAPA Part # 25-060705 - $28 (saved $48.49 vs. oem belt)
total savings of $146.33, which means I can put that towards another part... SCORE!
Now, I'm all about oem parts, but there are sometimes when I don't feel like taking it for the team with stealership prices. I hope this helps someone else out, because I searched and I didn't find any other threads about my problem.
