HID Conversion for High Beam Lights

So the stock MR has standard HID lights and there are conversion kits to make the stock high beams (9004, 9005 or 9006 bulbs, I forget which one the high beams really are) into true HID lights.

A couple of vendors out there sell kits for this and they're about $250 per.

Has anyone done this? Pros? Cons?

The factory high beams are reflectors and are made for halogen so the HID won't reflect that well. The light will sort of scatter, but since it's your high beams and you won't be blinding anyone with them it might be worth it. It will def be brighter but that doesn't mean that it will be focused enough for you to use that brighter light.

Yeah, that's what I figured; the beam pattern might be totally off and useless. Just saved myself $250!

you also shouldn't use hid's for high beams because hid's take a while to get up to full brightness and will fail very fast if they are flashed on and off before they have time to fully cool down( a few minutes)..
