Which tires for autocross?

Hey guys,

I'm debating which tire to get for the purpose of autocross. The advans are long gone and I don't have the cash to replace them.

As such, I'm looking at the following two brands (any other suggestions?)

Yokohama avs sport

Kuhmo ECSTA MX

Tell me what you guys think. Thanks!

I have the kuhmos on my car right now, and to tell you the truth you will just be dissapointed with them in a competition setting after coming off of the advans. They arent a bad tires but the advans def have more grip and a better feel. Bottom line the kuhmos will give you 85% of the performance for 60% of the price. So is 1-2 seconds off of your lap times worth 300-$400?

I am in the same boat and have pretty much decided on bfg kdw (new tread design) Tire Rack has them for just under 150 and they are much better than the mx's...very close the the advans.

On a performance standpoint the Yoko would be a better competition tire selection. Better handling, dry traction, and steering response. The MX isn't bad, but Yokos AVS would be a couple steps above it.

I have heard bad things about both of them. You will be mad if you don't spend the extra cash to get some good tires.
