Brembo clear coat peeling

Hey all this is just an informative post, for any of you with the clear coat peeling on your brembos.

i am out of my basic warranty, but under the mileage (32k) i took the car to the dealer to have them take a look and see if there was anything they could do. I figured since i was out of warranty they were gonna charge me $120 to look at it and then tell me i was screwed and have a nice day... well first the advisor was like ive never heard of this happening, (we all know it happens this guy was full of it.) so anyway they get the car into the shop......15 min......30min......45min.......60min... ok enough it takes 3 sec to look with your eyes. I go up to the advisor and theres a tech standing there with him holding a camera, he says hey so ok were ordering you new calipers and sending these pics to mitsubishi. We will call you when the calipers come in and have you come back for installation, Well that went much smoother then i was expecting, the tech said theres a bulletin on it i think, so if you have clearcoat peeling its worth a shot to take it in and have them take a look. Hope this helps someone out and keeps the brembos looking fresh.

Im glad they replaced them for you, but sadly it will happen again... They can always be freshend up though, with powder coating. And you can order a new brembo sticker and they will be looking new again. There is a couple diy's on it.

I was only mentioning that since you were close to out of warranty with 32k so next time may not go so easy but w/e its just a stupid brake caliper color.

It happens to ALL evo's. I wouldn't be surprised if they call you back and say they made a mistake and it's not covered. Like posted above, you got lucky... and it WILL happen again. There's no way the dealership is going to keep giving you new calipers. Guess you can try though. If you're still having doubts, run a search and you'll see that its a known issue.

Dealer replaced my Evo 9 calipers under warranty... car had 16k miles, tried to blame it on brake bleeding... However, I pointed out @16K miles the only way the car has been bled was from the factory.... eat ****.
