2004 Lancer ES Radio Install Help
Hey guys,
Recently I have purchased a new head unit Pioneer DEH-4300UB that is replacing the stock Mitsubishi CD player in 2004 Lancer ES. As I understand the stock unit is chassis grounded but the new Pioneer unit has a black ground cable and the Mitsubishi wiring harness does not, where am I supposed to ground the black cable to? Can I screw the ground wire to one of the 4 screws (2 on each side) that hold the radio (side) bracket? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

With mine, I just looked in the cavity further back where the head unit will go and found a bolt or large screw fastened to bare metal and attached there. If the stereo powers up, you found a good ground.
Don't forget if you want a.m. reception, you'll have to splice in 12v power to the antenna. The stock head unit supplies the power, but aftermarket head units never seem to. At least this was the case on my '02.

Thank you for the reply, I have attached an image to show where I am planning to ground the radio (circled in red), since the bracket in Lancer is chassis grounded. Any comments/suggestions? Thanks.
