Help with whining noise??

Hi guys ive had this annoying problem with my lancer gts the thing is that every time i start to run my car really hard after a couple minutes you can hear a whining noise coming from the engine compartment if i rev the car to 6000rpm in 3erd gear oh by the way its a cvt and let the revs come down slowly i can hear the whining noise i took the car to the dealer they told me the noise came from the engine damper so guess what? They made me buy a new one then went to test drive it and the noise is still there, i asked the tech if it could be the cvt that i may need an oil change and he told me no cause you change it at 60,000 miles and that it cant be the gearbox cause when you put the car in neutral an accelerate you can still hear this whining noise so what do you guys think it could be?? Thanks for the help!

If I understood correctly, the noise appears only when you rev above 6000 rpm, no matter if the car is at neutral or driving?

Well not exactly it starts to make this whining noise when i start to drive in a spirited form its when i push the car hard after a while it starts to whine it does it while in neutral or drive.

it may be your air filter. check to make sure it is snug and in place.

First off, I think that it's extremely uncool for you to force your girlfriend to ride in the engine compartment, regardless of how she reacts to your "spirited" driving.

Second, I'd go a half-quart over full with the oil and see what that does. Maybe, since she's right there, your girlfriend could put the extra oil in for you. Note that you might have to tell her to put it in via the "710" cap. Depending on how you wedged her in there, her perspective could be reversed.

Check the belt. Make sure there's nothing obstructing it, wedged in it. Also, it should be covered under warranty so you shouldn't have to pay for a new damper.

Have the dealer diagnose it properly as it should be a warranty issue.

I would advise against overfilling your engine with oil.

Change your CVT fluid. I had the same problem. It was resolved after the fluid was changed!
