DE/ES owners - what tires?

I recently dropped my GTS from the stock 18" wheels down to a set of 16". I'm covered for snowtires, but now I'm looking towards Summer. The stock 205/60/16 doesn't seem to offer much. Lots of All-Season choices, but little to no "performance" options.

A search of TireRack for 205/60/16 Summer tires reveals one option: Michelin Pilot Primacy, in the Grand Touring Summer category. They get crappy reviews and happen to cost $140/each. This is not exactly ideal.

Now, I have to figure that some DE/ES folks are looking forward to upgrading their tire selection. Are All-Seasons the only choice? Has anyone gone with a slightly different size (keeping the 16" wheel though)?

HELP!

FWIW, poking around the famous Miata.net tire calculator, here's some rough ideas.

215/55/16 - 1.5% too fast (speedo says 60, you're moving 59)
Options are pretty decent (let's see if a link works)

225/55/16 - damn near perfect. The difference is 2 revolutions per mile. 0.2% difference.
Options are good again (Linky again)

I was looking into getting 16" until it came down to finding a decent set of tires...I ended in the same boat you're in now and just gave up

My hopes are definitely rising after what I learned in post #2. Some pretty nice choices. Kumho SPT are a tire I've used before and was happy with.
