Run Flat tires : Outlander Sport (ASX/RVR)

Curious as to what they would cost, so I looked them up...

Here's the stock tires on my 2013 O.Sport SE AWD >

$258.00 ea. (tirerack.com)

Now the bitter pill.. This is what I found (Break out the piggy bank or liquidate some stocks!) >

Pirelli Cinturato P7 Run Flat (W- or Y-Speed Rated) Ultra High Performance Summer
225/50R18 95W (Didn't find any in 225/55 , bummer..)
MSRP $475 per tread.
Price: $419.00 ea. (tirerack.com)
Set of 4: $1,676.00

That's incredible in price change! I'll hang on to my AAA and since I don't ever plan on autocrossing or drag racing, I don't have a need to take the spare or jack out. Thanks for looking into it, in case someone may want to go that route!

And to think, I was upset about paying $160 per tire!

You bet..
Glad I checked into this BEFORE I decide to go off roading or haphazardly running over TX-size potholes around town!

Forget Run Flats! I certainly didn't expect our stock tires to be THAT Expensive!

I'm use to paying $133 per tire on the "highend" of my wallet-scale just a year ago..

Has there been some kind of global shortage on rubber (recently)? Why are stock tires so expensive?

And, yeah I won't be getting run flats anytime soon!

Those folks who bought MINI Cooper S (they can't carry a spare) are screwed.. They ONLY come with run flats.

18" tires are expensive. 16's are substantially less for the same tire

That's good to know! Does it say it on the spare or did you have to look it up somewhere? Also, any idea if the rim is re-useable or once it's flat the whole thing is toast?

Here is the stock tire sizes:

I looked right at the spare to get the size spec.

Hmmm, THAT I don't know. I've never even considered a donut to be one-time use only... But, I wouldn't be surprised these days if that's how they made it.

*************

I had thought to get some cheap spares ($10 a rim(s)* @ salvage yard) to use for snow/ice conditions. Now if they aren't designed to safely re-mount new tires, that would nix that idea.

*Since 16" tires are so cheap. $63/per in Goodyears.

Well, I just checked out the price for tires in the rear for my new set of wheels, and at least it's still not as much as a run flat at about $317/ea.

Found some for $199/piece for 275/35R 20 Falken Azenis PT-722 with a 440 treadwear. Much more manageable!
