From the original post listing all the parts to do the 5 lug swap, is this based off an OZ or ES? Reason why im asking when you look up the front hub bearings the ralliart and the oz share the same bearing but the es shows a different part number. I have a 03 ES and wanting to swap it over to 5 lug to use a set of wheels i have laying around. Thanks for any help.

Let's see how this pans out. I'm attempting this myself. I'll probably have to start searching junkyards on the side.

Lancer 5-lug & Rear Disc Conversion Part List

Very good possibility that it could. I'm pretty sure the front caliper bracket and everything will bolt right on. I believe DSM guys are doing that for a big brake upgrade. So there's a good chance that the rear backing plate would also bolt up. Keep us updated if it actually works. Been wanting to do the swap but you can't get new backing plates for the lancer anymore

4x114.3 rear disc and front dual piston conversion

Just buy the backing plate with abs. The only difference is the hole for the sensor. Hust buy some jb weld and block it off with some sheet metal. Thats what i did.

I also went the 2.4l ls wagon route so i can keep my wheels. Food for thought

I also used 90-94 FWD DSM rear brake calipers since they have the e-brake mechanism built in that squeezes against the rotor. I'd be happy to fab up another set.
Hi Mirageman,
Do you still sell the rear disk kit for the oz 4x114.3? I have a 03 oz

Wow, it's been 3 years since I last logged on here. I do still make these rear disc kits. My email address is 89mirageman@live.com and that's the best way to reach me. I've gotten a few emails over the past few weeks from members wanting a kit so I decided to pop in here.

Yes, would have to source the majority of the parts from a junk yard. You can't get anything from the dealer for the swap anymore.

I found an 04 Sportback at one of the local junkyards this morning and grabbed the rear disc conversion parts. Sadly, even though I've been a member here going on 8 years I guess I don't have enough posts to make a thread in the classifieds. Anybody know what the limit is? I can't even find the rules posted anywhere. Must have missed them.

Edit: Fixed now, anybody looking for the rear disc conversion parts let me know

I'm looking into doing the rear disc conversion on my '03 Lancer OZ Rally. Do you still make the kit for the swap?

I think I have it mostly figured out for the OZ. Only thing I'm a bit confused on is what do we do for a backing plate/dust shield behind the rotor when swapping to discs and keeping the stock OZ rally 4 lug hub? Maybe I'm envisioning this wrong but you remove the entire drum assembly and you bolt the caliper bracket/adapter to the hub so there's nothing behind the rotor. The drum backing plate won't work with the new Galant rotors. Correct?

I see a few posts up mention of using the backing plate from the 2.4L sportback (non RA) but I'm confused as to whether that will bolt up to my 03 OZ hub or if it only works when swapping everything over from the Sportback.

Is there a bolt on solution for a back plate for the 4 lug OZ rally when not swapping out hubs? I know there is with the 5 lug swap but I'm assuming that wont' work with the 4 lug OZ setup. I'd be fine with drilling, cutting or modifying back plates somehow If need be. I'm sure something cold be rigged up but I was hoping maybe someone has already done this or I'm just missing something obvious. Not terribly familiar with the Galant but could a dust shield/backing plate from the 91-92 Galant VR-4 be made to work?

I know back plates aren't completely necessary but the factory puts them there for a reason. Helps keep water off the rotors, may help cooling the rotors, keeps cold water splashing all over the back of hot rotors, keeps brake dust contained to area, keeps debris off rotors etc.

One other question, with the kit and appropriate supporting parts off other cars I don't need to make any changes to the stock OZ rally master cylinder/proportioning valve do I? The OZ doesn't have ABS so there shouldn't be anything funky there. Any other rear disc car I've had the brake bias is heavy to the front anyway and they do most of the work.
