lol u dont take out ur windows. precut the tint to ur window shape. then clean the inside of ur window very thouroughly, next get a squirt bottle and fill it iwith water, add 2 drops of dish detergent and shake it up, spray the window and the sticky side of the film and apply to window, move it around to where it should be and take a squeegee and remove all the water/soap out untill theres no more bubbles . when ur done dont roll down ur windows for 2 days and ull be good!. have fun

I don't recommend doing the job yourself, unless your experienced in the art of tinting. The back window especially, just the little curve of the windows will give you problems. You could probably do your doors yourself, but the back window will be a bit#*. To get the sizing right though, you use the outside of the glass and cut slightly larger than the actuall size of the window to allow you to squegee the water out under the rubber seals of the windows. Pretty much follow Ralli04Art's directions, but to get the size and shape right, use the outside of the window. Also it help to roll the window down till about a half inch gap and use the top of the window to get the curvature of the glass right. The money you'll spend to do it yourself though, could easily go towards getting your whole car done professionally. Good Luck and Hope it turns out for you!

Yeah I agree with ralliart2004. It's so easy to mess up the tint and make it look crappy. I've seen so many tint jobs that look horrible after it dries. So if your gonna do it yourself then be very careful. Also when you clean the tint a few days later, do NOT use WINDEX or any other glass cleaner cause it can turn your tint purple. I would recommend getting it done professionally. I have all my windows tinted 5% (limo black on 4 doors and back window) and it cost me $170 and it's guarunteed for a year. I'm sure you might be able to find a better deal though. So good luck

I wouldent advise doing it yourself but if you do .......

you will need:
drop light
spray bottle of soapy water
razor blade
sharp razor knife
paper towels
and a heat gun
LLUMAR WINDOW FILM

use LLumar film........ spray and clean the inside and outside of the windows then spray the outside window with soapy water roll the windown down like 3 inches figure out what side of the film is the clear plastic that covers the adheasive and place that side out on the soaked outside of the window line up the straight edge of the film with the rubber of the window squeegee the soapy water out and cut the top of the film along the top of the window using the window itself as a guide just run the razor along it...... use the heat gun to get the "fingers" out the film will heat shrink but you can't just go nuts......... this is the part that takes skill I can't really explain how to do it you will have to see it to understand what I'm talking about ..... once you get the film so that the tint is flat on the window spray the inside of the window peel the tint and apply it to the inside of the window...... this probably doesn't make sense but this is tough to explain I won't even get into the rear window cause that will be impossible to explain if you need help or have any questions feel free to ask or pm me I will try my best to help you out

i know this is an old thread but those of you who are tinting their own windows, i suggest you go to advance auto and get the gila static cling tint because if you screw up you can pull it right off and reapply it

my friend learned how to tint from his dad. he bought tint from wal mart and took his time and did a good job, but it fell off after a few hours, crappy tint. got tint from a shop and it looked great.

so spend the extra money and make sure to get the good stuff.

has anyone actually tried this and been able to roll their windows up and down afterward? I want illegal tint, but don't want to pay for it every year after I get the car inspected. I also don't want to rely, or even try, on paying someone to pass the tint.

If you're a patient person, it might be worth your time to remove the window glass and tint it outside the car, then reinstall. I would think that'd make it easier to get just right.

it will work, the dot matrix he is talking about is not part of the defroster. I have taken out the windows to tint previous cars, but I am talking about something I don't have to remove and REPLACE every year. I jsut wanmt to be abvle to remove it and put it bakc without purchasing it agina. sorry about typos, had alot to drink adn dont' want to fix them
