How do I install these CF pieces?

How do I install these CF pieces?

So I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on these. I confirmed with the seller that they do not come with any hardware or instructions - so I'm on my own.

It doesn't look like it would be too hard to install these myself. How would you recommend I do this? My plan was to simply get screws and washers and drill holes into the bottom of my front lip.

Any advice from folks that have experience in this area? I'm clearly a novice. Thanks in advance.

first i would put some double-sided tape under the bumper were you want them to rest at then hang them just to make sure you have them right were you want them. onece you have them in place you could either rivet them on from underneith or do what you said and use a couple nuts,bolts and washers, probably 3/8th x 1 inch would work fine, but i would double check to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the advice. What do you mean by "rivet them on" and you mentioned that I should double-check what size screws to use "to be on the safe side". Double-check for what? That it doesn't go into the foglight housing or something?

aluminum or stainless steel pop rivet s would do 3/16 0r 1/4 inch ....3/8 bolts?ummm...thats a pretty big bolt to use to hold that piece on ....if you wanted to go with bolts 10/24 screws and tee nuts, if you wanted it a bit thicker go with the 1/4 ...get lock washers and remember stainless steel................

nah, the fog lights should be fine, i just suggested to double check the size of the bolt because i dont actually have the splitters in front of me to judge a bolt size.

one thing i do know is that the location of the splitters is pretty much prone to a lot of bumps, scrapes and scratches, so i figured that you might want a good sturdy bolt that can take the abuse over time.

as far as the rivets there prety cool , you just tap a pilot hole, push the rivet in and pop it with the rivet gun wich will lock the rivet into place. i dont know if you ever used one befor but their pretty simple .

I wouldn't use pop rivets on that piece. CF doesn't like to be drilled to begin with, but to then attach it with a few small rivets is just asking for it to crack. If you're going to drill through it, use small bolts with fender washers to spread the load out, then locking nuts (all in stainless steel, as someone mentioned).

Personally, I'd use the 2-sided tape to get it lined up, then drill 8-10 holes evenly spaced and put the bolts/washers/locknuts on it.

what kind of carbon fiber were you drilling into ??... I drill into CF all the time being its one of main components on the airframe i work on... you have to start off small and step drill because the fibers don't like to be stressed and will splinter if you try to drill a big hole first

just use some small pop rivets and you should be fine with some small holes... or your could use some flush bolts/screws with the proper nuts on the other side... Just put the flush head closest to the road

as far as mysz saying using stainless steel ... thats a good idea.. because aluminum and CF don't like each other and before long it will start to almost turn white and get slightly powdery... CF's way of corroding!

I negged the idea after looking closely at my stock front spoiler this weekend. Because the spoiler doesn't go straight across (kinda sloped downward from the center to the outsides), I felt that it may not look right. Feels kinda risky to me at the moment. I don't want to lose $125 on parts that may not fit right on my car. You want to take a swing at it?

Make sure you get the washers for the back of the rivet also, other wise it will pull through the plastic.

i was actually thinking of getting a set but my pokets are a little shallow right now.
