There's one for the outlander too. Gas mileage maybe? I would rather have a controller than a set point, but there's your fix if you like gas mileage instead of power

+1 to research, nice find.

I called a performance shop a while back. I don't remember who it was, and I was talking to them about modifications on the MIVEC. I remember them asking me, "do you have the 'so and so' update flash rom factory update?". (or something to that effect) I told them "No, should I?". They replied, "No, it's good you dont have it.".

If I could only remember who it was! That was a few months ago, but I imagine this is what they were referring to. I didn't ask what it was all about.

DDan do you Fckin! believe me now!?

hahaha

I told you, my car had to be at 4500, theres no way it is at 3500, because its not that you feel something or you think you hear something, NO!

It Fckin activate at 4500, you can HEAR and FEEL the kick, it has to be that, anyway , i dont think it will be different PERFORMANCE WISE, unless you run the car under 4500, wich i dont think anyone do. Well maybe roling with someone on those RPM ...

anyway im going to put the light and post some videos, I dont know, maybe it does activate at 3500 .... NAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!

I'd really like to know what revision was made in the service manual.
but personally im glad (if it does) activate at 4500, (4000 would be better)
when you start sucking back more fuel driving highways at 120km/hr it kinda sucks.

egk-69, I still want proof. Hook a voltmeter up to the appropriate wire and rev the engine to see where the voltage cuts off. I know, I'm a sombish.

I'm still waiting for proof from people who claim to have the 7500 rev limiter, too

yeah, the rev limiter thing is bullsnish, no doubt about that at all. TSB released in '05 leads me to believe that '06 models could potentially have a different switchover point. I can't figure out what would make them set it at 4500 instead of 4k like morpheus said, that's well past highway cruising speeds.

This is all BS , the only letter I received from the dealership was to fix something about the fan box nothing else. EVERY LANCER RALLIART by nature engages mivec @ 3500 rpms, asimilation; every man should have his ***** between the legs. If your MIVEC engages at 4500 CONGRATS again you have a freak of nature Ralliart. Sorry to be rude but sometimes people need to understand that you should have proof if you say stuff.

IF YOU WANNA PROOF THIS
STEPS:
1- THE MIVEC COIL IN THE CYLINDER HEAD HAS A CONECTOR
2- FInd a way to turn a light on once the MIVEC engages (there's a thread about it)

I have to say that theres also a way to delay the MIVEC switch point to a higher point. By installing an external oil cooler you decrease the pressure of the oil and I read in a thread while ago that because of the oil pressure sensor didn't send the signal it didn't engage until oil pressure was obtained @ higher RPM. This can be done but with a small oil cooler and short plumbing because if it is too large it will decrease the oil pressure too much

Diavlo had this problem with his oil coiler, it was described in his engine swap thread. IIRC his mivec would not engage at all, but I may be wrong.

I had that LIFE CHANGING reflash too. Nothing but bad news, MY once beater of all Ralliart, became the car without nuts after 90 mph.

I even thought about switching ECU's, to a 2004, but then someone rumored me that I had to program a key for that ECU, so I changed my mind

I'm doing the MIVEC light per the write-up that otter did this week - just waiting on the relay and the LEDs to arrive. I'll let you know what I find out (video evidence) with my '06.
