Only Run Fog Lights...
I have a ralliart wagon and just installed some yellow fogs and i want to be able to turn them on without turning the headlights on first... does anyone know how to do this? oh, its a 04 ralliart sportback
thanks
thanks
i mean i know i can just un plug the headlights for my photoshoots but if anyone knows how to disable the automatic turnoff of the foglights when the main projectors are off that would really help!
I'm sure there's a thread about it here in the how-to section. I did this a long time ago. The simple way is to run a wire to the ground pin of the relay control circuit that turns on the fogs, and run it to a switch that you can turn on and off, then ground the switch. It's worked fine in my car for a few years now, though if I had it to do over again, I would have it turn off with the ignition, I've forgotten to turn off the fogs a couple times.

From what I know Myz's method is the only way that I know that works. One guy made a pcm box with a chip that tricked the car's ecu to allow the switch to turn on and off the fogs. I was (from what I know) the only guy who bought it but there was a problem, somehow feedback from the horn got through the system and everytime i honked or locked/unlocked the car the fogs would randomly turn on/off... I'm not sure if it was due to something in my car but it eventually fried the chip and I never touched it again. I believe the guy emailed me the code for the chip but I don't remember the wiring diagram either. The easiest way is a direct wire to the relay tied to the ignition.

with pictures that would be awesome!!! thanks!
just an idea... but if you can find the wire that sends the 12v to the fog switch from the headlight switch, can you not cut it, and run a wire fron the fog swith to a 12v ignition source, that way the the switch will see the power when the car is on.... just a thought, or is it a ground signal the switch needs? in which case find the gound signal wire at the fog swith and just ground it...??
i know very little about the wiring for these cars, but i'm just throwin some input... the old domestic i used to drive was soooo easy to figure out compared to this car. lol
i ran a search and got this....thougt it could explain it a lil better than i did.

The only way we recommend wiring your fog lights for independent operation is by cutting the main power lead, capping it off and running a new switched lead power source from the ignition fuse system or running a non-switched lead from the main battery terminal to the fog switch. This is the safest way to do it and THE ONLY WAY you will get "true" independent operation of your fog lights. To find a new powersource, you'll need a 12vt test light and poke around for a switched 12vt lead, then test which fuse system it goes to (to insure you don't overload it).
