Water pump failure at 45k! Replace info?
Alldata didnt have the info I need, about to check chilton library but I doubt it will be helpful. Anyone do one before or work at a mitsubishi dealership? Heard a funny metalic tinging but drove fine and temp gauge was good. Seems like my bearing failed then my seal or vice versa, made it home ok, it was pissing all over the driveway, saw the water pump pully wobbling then shut it off. The book says 2 to 3 hour job.
It'd take a heck of a mechanic to do it in 2-3 hours. You have to basically do a timing belt change in order to change the water pump. The pump body is behind the timing belt.
If it was my car, I'd do the timing belt change now. You'll be due for it in 15k anyway, might as well do it now and forget it for another 60k.

I opted out of the timing belt change, I can do that another semester at school. I found all the info I need at chiltonmanuals.com, and when I read I had to remove the timing belt, I opted out and took it to the local garage, thought the water pump was going to let go on the drive down. Shop said $400.
