the easiest way to check for an exhaust leak is take a rag/towel and fold it a few times....with the engine running cover the tailpipe and hold it(best if the car is in the air where you can look at all the piping whikle u do it..basically it diverts the exhaust back thru the pipe and out any other exit), you can ussually see black markings where the exhaust has be leaking(and the muffler weep hole...if there is one)...
ps dont hold it for too long....it gets hot and also well its not the greatest for a car to not have exhaust...also it gets hot....(did i say that already?)

leak between the flanges is better fixed by not welding and replacing the gasket..

im not 100% on the cel eliminator since i personally have never used one, (but if iremember correctly from reading on this site) the back o2 gets removed install the o2 eliminator in tis place and install the o2 back on the eliminator(imagine it's a spacer...since thats basically what it is)

best way to fix it tho if u'r not too mechanical is take it to a exhaust shop and tell them to look at it because you think u may have a leak...and see what options they give u(provided they find something)

for pipe sizing if i remember correctly 2.5" is what most people get on this forum...tho i think most say unless ur modding alot its really best to just leave the pipping as is, and get a different muffler put on...(ive read magnaflow, and cherrybomb are good....not sure what others are used commonly tho)

Seafoam is another method if you want to clean the valves at the same time. Your car will smoke like crazy and you can see where the leak is by where smoke is coming out.

my guess is you'll still have to do the exhaust plugging...because otherwise all ull have is a huge cloud of some and no idea where the smoe is coming from...

(trust me...there WILL be a HUGE cloud of smoke)

Notice any difference with the 2 1/4 instead of the stock 2 1/8?

I only found that the Weapon R elminator works a lot of them do not put the 02 far enough out of the exhaust flow.

If your CEL is 0420 then the elminator isn't working.
