Exhaust leak question
Exhaust leak question
I was wondering how u check.for exhaust leaks. Also I was wondering whats the easiest way to fix. Also I was wondering if u can weld in between two flanges where the gasket is In case of a leak there. Also does the diameter of piping affect anythin I have obx header n dp n I was wondering whag size piping to go with the rest of the way backto the muffler n does anyone know how to indtall a cel elminator
the easiest way to check for an exhaust leak is take a rag/towel and fold it a few times....with the engine running cover the tailpipe and hold it(best if the car is in the air where you can look at all the piping whikle u do it..basically it diverts the exhaust back thru the pipe and out any other exit), you can ussually see black markings where the exhaust has be leaking(and the muffler weep hole...if there is one)...
ps dont hold it for too long....it gets hot and also well its not the greatest for a car to not have exhaust...also it gets hot....(did i say that already?)
leak between the flanges is better fixed by not welding and replacing the gasket..
im not 100% on the cel eliminator since i personally have never used one, (but if iremember correctly from reading on this site) the back o2 gets removed install the o2 eliminator in tis place and install the o2 back on the eliminator(imagine it's a spacer...since thats basically what it is)
best way to fix it tho if u'r not too mechanical is take it to a exhaust shop and tell them to look at it because you think u may have a leak...and see what options they give u(provided they find something)
for pipe sizing if i remember correctly 2.5" is what most people get on this forum...tho i think most say unless ur modding alot its really best to just leave the pipping as is, and get a different muffler put on...(ive read magnaflow, and cherrybomb are good....not sure what others are used commonly tho)

I do notice my idle sounds a little cleaner an a little smoother with givin it some gas. I think alot has todo with my rrm underdrive pulley kit which is a good investment I installed that last night. I dont have a can I have magnaflow performance muffler with a fitted stainless tip looks and sounds great (help from the headers ndownpipe)overal I think the piping was a good buy
Seafoam works fine the cloud goes out the back away from the pipes I use it to find leaks and have found lots this way.
Ok how do u go about using the sea foam... I installed the 02 cel elimnator and a code came up ill post the code when I get home all my piping is new from the header to down pipe all the way out I believe t may be leaking from the flange that meets tbe down pipe n the pipe after. The code I belive said something aboht the two 02 senors reading different
