Thumbs up

you will need to remove the factory amp & wire your speakers direct to either your deck or your new amp(s). this has always been an issue with factory amplified systems (especially mitsu & dsm's). they make them so they are useless if you change anything.

some said there was an adaptor you can buy i think that might fix your problem, search on the forums for S&S adaptor... I think crutchfield sells them... Not totally sure if this is what you need but it might be.

Soundgate sells them. So does some other company, I've heard, but can't remember the name.

both soundgate and metra make adapters for the factory amp, basically just 4 rca's that plug into the back of your aftermarket head unit

the metra adapter can be ordered from parts express, soundgate i'm not completely sure but there are many dealers listed on their site

i used the metra adapter to install my Alpine CDA-9831 just yesterday and everything works very well.

I heard there was an issue with using these adapters to install a new head unit while still using the S&S, but the sub didn't work or something. Is this a problem?

This will be the first question i have asked in a long time because i am SICK of my stock head unit, so if i buy that metra adaptor, same exact part number and all, and i buy an aftermarket head unit, it WILL WORK ON MY SUN AND SOUND PACKAGE? I feel like a noob all over again

yes it will. I have the metra harness in mine. I dont know if its just my deck or what, but my bass is down really really low. Its still on, its just like its on 1 in the factory system. The problem is my deck wont allow me to adjust bass, treable, etc.. settings. So to answer your question, YES it will work

no no ...with mitsu amplified systems u take the blue and white striped wire(maybe just all blue) from the harness coming from the car and connect it to the blue (maybe blue and white) wire coming out of the h/u harness... that should work
or get it done profesionally

Just a heads up for anyone switching their HU's. I switched mine and used the soundgate adapter. I just recently had to put my stock HU back (other one wouldn't spit disc's out) and let me tell you the bass with the stock HU is 1000% better than the aftermarket HU. When I bought my Kenwood I paid close to 425 and honestly with the adapter on it it sounds like **** compared to stock.

the reason the bass is worse it because when u put in a aftermarket radio the stock so is disable..to fix this..get a new sub and amp.

wait!

for anyone getting a new HU!!!

your new head unit MUST HAVE FRONT AND REAR PREAMP OUTPUTS. if it does't, you will have to use "y" adapters and loose the fade or balance control.

just fyi
