why would you need a extra tach? i think it looks dumb in my opinion, when you have a tack and you add another and it looks very out of place. why dont you just get a shift light?

in my opinion, if you want it then do it. But if you're questioning it and posting here, then I'd say you have your doubts and your not 100% sure you want it.
If a certain mod part, be it visual or performance, really appeals to you then you would most likely buy it without even thinking of asking others opinions. You'd simply buy it and love your new part.
If you have to post here asking if should you get it, then you probably shouldnt.
And if you have to ask "is this going to be rice", 99 times out of 100 the answer is going to be yes.
I'm not attempting to flame or rag on you at all. But people are becoming so overly concerned with what might be called "rice" that its getting out of hand. What ever happened to asking "would this be sensible to install" or "is there any point to adding" People use rice as a generic term for anything they dont like. I'd like to see people start using more adjectives like tacky or gawdy. It makes the mod community sound like we have a single word vocabulary.
Sorry for my rant, just felt like putting that out there.

I ran across a guy with a 5" tach on the dash of his late 80's/early 90's S-10.
He was very proud of the fact that he had a short block V-8 and a dual exhaust, and it was a pretty fast truck, considering... I don't know if the bondo added weight or not...
After a couple goes from a roll, he asked me "does that thing have a turbo?" I said "yes", and when he asked about lag, I said "I'll show you when this light turns green."
Should I brag about the racing equivalent of beating up my little sister... no. But the truck guys down here in the south just kill me.
Before I totally hijack this thread, let me get to the point. I say ixnay on the 5" achtay. Rice or not - it just doesn't look good.
PS This guy looked like Joe Dirt. Really.

Gaudy or tasteless = rice - like having 15 gauges in your car trying to imitate an instrument cluster from a F15.
Why do you need a shift light? Just listen to your motor. It's even worse for having it on an auto tranny car.

the only reason i asked was to get some opions i never really thought of just a light. i the reason i would add another tach is that the way i sit in my car an the way the stearing wheel is i cant see my gauges but i guess maybe just a shiftlight would do. and as for listening to the engine thats the last thing on my mind in a race.

thing is... if you think it would help you and you think it would be a useful mod... then dont worry if others think it is "rice"... personally if I thought it was going to make me a better driver... f*ck what anyone else says i'd throw that Sh*T on there... who's going to call you rice when you torch their car in the quarter, especially when it's american muscle being "Riced"?

just get whatevers comfortable... remember.. i'm guessing since you sit at an angle that you can't see the stock tach .... the 62 mm might just still be too small... if you want the 5 inch... go for it... who cares?
