RE: Evo spoiler Stabalizer mod!!
RE: Evo spoiler Stabalizer mod!!
Well, I finally had a chance to take apart my aftermarket spoiler and reinforce it.
For you guys that don't have them once you get to around 65-70mph (120ish km/h) the spoiler vibrates like a fiend.
So, here's what the mod entails. Its really pretty easy.
1) 40" long rod (I used a shelving rod and cut it down) - Home Depot
2) Can of flat black (or glossy if you prefer) RUST paint - Home Depot
3) 6 (six) 1/4" self tapping screws - Home depot
4) Drill (low power is fine) w/ a small drill bit (I used a wood bit)
First I cut the shelving rod to size and then painted it (about 2-3 coats) then when that was dry I took the spoiler apart. There are 4 allen key screws per side to take off the side piece's and then another 2 that hold the spoiler in place. GET A BUDDY to hold the spoiler or it will fall on your nice new paint!
Afterwards lay the spoiler on a flat soft surface (like your carpet or lawn) and lay the rod directly in the middle and drill a small hole and then screw the self taping screws in. I started with one in the middle then one on the ends continued in that fashion.
After its afixed I got a little bit of the spray paint and touched up the screws (or you could just buy black screws to start with).
Re-assemble and your done!
MODS - If you want to move this to the HOW TO section please go ahead. I guess this did turn into a how to...hehe

Hugely off topic, did I see you on Dufferin/Sheppard on Saturday, around 3:30? I saw a black looking-very-modded Ralliart with an Evo wing, and I'm pretty sure there aren't too many of those in Toronto.
