Painted some interior pieces...
sorry for such a late later super late reply to this thread.. but i just recently started coming back to these forums after bouncing around to a few others... but to answer your question that you asked 7months ago... no i didn't sand it all away... but in some areas i think whatever the topcoat or paint they used to get the fake carbon fiber look made the paint craze so I had to slowly add layers of filler primer to it... and it came out fine... maybe a little sanding but it comes out good in the end
cool, I think I might do some interior work eventually. That carbon fiber is tackey but what the hell, most of the people who ride in my car are holding on so tight they don't notice. I am doing engine bay painting first, more fun

Take off the whole center console, underneath the rivet looking part there are four plastic pieces you have to push through...or if you're an idiot like me...you pry it off from the top with a screwdriver.

Optimus, sorry to be late to the party...
...but did you use a spray can or a gun? Did you spray a clear coat over the paint? And how about durability so far?
I'm thinking of a similar project, so any info would be appreciated!

i just used a spray can... in the pictures above i used suv, truck and van paint from schucks...
About the professional part... these look okay... but the new ones i just did look better..
I am in the air force and some times all i do is paint all day long... no clear on these... just regular spray paint
its knicks easily if you don't use a clearcoat... my g/f decided she wanted to use her nail and pick something off.... nice gouge left after that...
I just recently painted the dash again and this time i added some clear and used filler primer... because it dries quicker and can be sanded too...
check it out...
new pieces with a new low light shot

Thanks for the info!
The new pieces look even better! Can you take out just the rouded part around the gages when you paint? I would really like to only paint these circles but keep the plate around it black... and maybe buy a nice CF trim for it later (like in the pic below).
Thanks for the info!
what do you mean when you say rounded part?.... if your talking about just the piece that you ps'ed the cf.... then yeah... its pretty easy.... remove the two screws on the bottom of the piece that sticks out and over your gauge(kind above the steering wheel column... then that piece pulls out... then you have 3 screws one on bottom and 2 in each of the top corners for the whole gauge assembly... and the whole cluster comes out... you have to undo 2 wire harnesses... don't worry the odometer has a battery backup so you won't lose your mileage just in case you were wondering....
then you have some plastic clips that remove the clear plastic piece and then a few more clips that actually remove the circles that go around the gauges... its pretty simple just be careful not to bump into your needles at all... don't want to damage or bend them at all
i can remove my whole dash in less than five minutes
And as for the cf photoshop.. that actually looks pretty good
