Hello, and a quick interior question
Hi
I just wondered upon this site the other day, I'm currently waiting for my ralliart to arrive at the dealership should be here monday. 05 grey, manual, but no sun and sound package. (I had to choose between the ralliart and the oz with the sun and sound and the choice was rather easy.)
Some quick information
name Porter
Location- northeast ohio
school miami university (of ohio)
My question though, had to do with the cars steer wheel, which is rather dull in my opinion. I would like eventually to swap the whole thing out, so far though the only direct swap I have read on this site is for an evo7 wheel, and at the moment I don't have the money, nor do I really feel like messing with a car thats brand new, plus I'm not sure how complicated dealing with the airbags is. I was wondering though if there were any wheel covers available that could tide me over until I had the time money and expertise to do the swap, something in leather would be the best but I'm open to suggestions, as long as it doesn't look like I bought it at walmart.
Should I even consider this as an option, or would it just look chincy?
If so if you have any places brands or sites to check out let me know
thanks for any info you can give me
I searched the forum but didn't come up with much but if I missed something just give me the link to save everyone some time.

Also I think I recognize a few of the icons from other forums I have posted at particularly one of a dancing red robot. I am pretty sure someone with the same icon posted at audioreview (hope the moderators don'y care about naming other forums if so sorry) . So if thats you hello again. I used to post there under pwh03 but I haven't been around in a while. You talked me into buying a yamaha 5760, which I have yet to thank you for

I think it would look awesome, a 7, 8, or even a 9 wheel would be cool, I love my wheel and how it looks, and it's basically the same interior.
Anyway, an extra huge welcome for wandering upon this site on your own... we need more people to wander here too... we need stickers back, dammit!!!!

the install for an evo 7 or evo 8 steering wheel is really quite simple and there are many tutorials on how to do it. Theres actually one "stickied" in the how to section, so its always there. But I can understand your hesitation due to price and the idea of monkeying with a new car.
Unfortunately I dont know of any steering wheel covers that aren't walmart-ish so I cant help you there. But if you ever decide to do the wheel conversion send me a pm or check out the how to section and it'll take you through it step by step.
Welcome to the boards and congradulations on your new car.

Actually, I received word that there are actually TWO hub adapters that will work. One is a splash hub adapter and the other is off of ebay sold by racing dimension. Basically if the hub adapter fits an evo 7 or 8, it will fit our cars. Here is a link from one of our vendors who sell it http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ior&prodid=928 you obviously want the US spec. As far as leather steering wheels are concerned, just type in steering wheel covers on google and you will find MANY places that sell quality covers. Hope this helps, and welcome.
thanks I was actually wondering if anyone had a cover on their wheel or had seen what it looked like.
It's not so much that I couldn't find a hub or wheel, but just that I would like to enjoy my car new for a while before I start hacking it apart.
If anyone had any idea of how the covers look, on a ralliart or any car for that matter I would be very interested to hear their review and if someone had a picture that would be even better
I just don't want to order something online that Barely fits and feels even worse
Thanks for the quick replies though

Also I didn;t see the how to about the steering wheel. atleast not one by sticky if you by chance have a second to grab the link for me that'd be great. I'll keep looking though, and there is obviously no hurry

here you go, sorry I could have sworn it was stickied but I guess I was wrong. This is the one that I used but there are a few others that go a bit more in depth.

ok thanks I actually got on here to say that they seem to be the best out there that I found on the web atleast. Although I didn't look all that hard. The price isn't bad, and I like that you stitch them on, it will take a little time but I think it would look pretty good.
Which one did you go with, and which color.?
Also do you know if the older model lancers steering wheels are the same size as the 05
