IPOd and cup holder

Hey I was thinking about ordering the ipod accesory that allows you to mount your ipod in your cup holder, but this is only ueful to me if we have a decent sturdy cup holder in the front of the car. one in the center consel would by far be the best.

I don't have my car yet its coming this week but I thought maybe someone had tried this out and could tell me how it worked for them, or could atleast let me know where the cup holders are and how sturdy they are.

thanks

The cup holders are located just in front of the armrest, next to the ebrake. Since they are part of the center console, they are quite sturdy, but difficult to reach if you have long arms.

the little device is pretty neat it suctions to the inside of your cup holder then has a racheting arm so you can adjust where you want the ipod to sit. So as long as they are sturdy and in a reasonably close position to the driver it should be fine.

THanks though

I sure wish mitsubishi would follow niss and BMW and provide a direct plug for ipods and other mps players.

Are radios (with out the sun and sound package) don't come with a set of rca in's by chance do they?

I doubt it

No, the only input on the factory head unit (sun/sound or normal) is for the factory 6 disc changer.

You'll probably want to upgrade to an aftermarket HU anyway if you like audio quality. Lots of ~100 dollar head units these days provide RCA inputs, or have changer control that accepts a special adapter to convert it to RCA.

Yea I actually have a pioneer with two sets of rca's deh 5400 or somethin like that I had a decent system once, but alas I need room for my stuff when I go to college plus I kept killing my alternator.

I just don't really feel like putting a hu into my brand new car its just kind of annoying.

plus I don't have the brackets to keep the HU in place so it would prolly slide around like it did in my old car, which just looks sad.

It's kinda sad that this hu has lasted through two cars though

Lol, yhea no kidding! Why can't mitsu follow Toyota's retractable design, or even Ford's rubber cup liners. I tell you, cleaning out the dust and crap from my Focus cupholders is soooo much easier than the Lancers. With the Focus, just pull out the rubber sleeve, wash it out, put it back.

The only car I've ever had with less useful cupholders than my Lancer was my 90 Accord.

hey heres a link if anyone else is looking into doing this, this should work since the radios we have do have cd changer adapters, they look like a S-video plug for anyone that doesn't know.

IPOD install

I haven't actually done it yet but I'm sure I will and I'll let you know how it goes.

I searched the site and I never really got a definitive answer so hopefully this will clear everything up.

I don't think the Ipod mount that goes in the cup holder will cause much of a problem, becuase it slides down in nad you can move the cable that holds the ipod any way you want so you should be able to bend it out of your way. And it'd be a nice granted expensive way to keep the dust out of there just slide the holder out clean it and slide it back in

Ph

I read into this a litte more and it actually could be kinda pricy depending how much the adapter for our cd changer plug runs. THey don't have an adapter for our sepcific car listed, does anyone have any idea what might fit.?

thanks

I thought about purchasing one myself... and maybe its within better reach.
I have one of those phone holders I use for both, ipod and phone, but this one clips on the vent... forget trying to switch playlist and driving at the same time - that was difficult.... or maybe Im just getting to old...
