If you resize your pics to less than 100k, you can directly attach them to your post here. On the post page, scroll down and look for the "manage attachments" button.

I'm curious to see what the aluminum short antenna looks like.

Thumbs up

If it's the one on eBay, I think it's quite a nice touch on the RA actually. Alex-TRS on here has installed one and it looks good... hey, it's only an antenna, but it sure beats the weird twisty thingy they put on the car at the factory.

Oh, and about the car: On those pics, the wheels look too big for the car... proportions look a bit off. It might be the pics though... 17 inchers normally look okay on a RA. Then again, black on black might also be the culprit... it lacks contrast.

Nice calipers, what did you use?

No such thing as rims that are TOO big for a car.

??? I sure hope he is...

Evolite:

As far as aesthetics goes, I'm a graphics designer and I know proportions are important. Then there's the contrast factor. I was only suggesting that those wheels would probably look a bit more in line with the proportions of the car if they where painted in a more contrasting color.

As for technical reasons for not mounting wheels on a car that are too big, motorsports engineers will tell you that a car's suspension is designed to take into consideration the diameter of the wheel (and so the tire wall height) that will be installed on a particular car. If you go too big with replacement wheels, you can actually end up with worst driving dynamics than with the stock setup. This has been documented... I've even read about this again lately in a tuner magazine article. I just can't remember in which magazine though... anyone with the info?

But 17" wheels on a car that's been designed to operate with 16" wheels is not that much bigger a size and should make the car handle better when fitted with the right tire.

Peace!

Jef

I was half joking so everybody take a deep breath and relax!!! I don't want to start another 20 page thread on rim size and weight.

As far as performance is concerned, yes size and weight can be too big or heavy. When it comes to the look of rims, I don't think there is anything too big within reason (17"-19")
If I were building a strictly show car I would definately have 19" rims on my car. There is a guy on here (I think from Puerto Rico) who has 19" rims and they look sweet. IMO 16" rims just look too small on the RA.

And black on black looks awesome as long as you have a polished or machined lip so that the rims don't blend in with the tires and the rest of the car.
