if you reverse the direction of the scoop so that it faces away from the front, it will actually work better by drawing hot air out of the engine bay

of course i can't find the thread now..

one of the STi guys took his stock scoop, reversed it and the underhood temps were a lot cooler..

cowl induction.

Believe it or not, I don't want a CF hood. I just want a vent. Maybe I misread an earlier post, but how could a $700 CF hood cost less than cutting and installing a $60 part?!

All I want is a way to vent air in a conservative / tastefull way without a full CF hood. I'm going to ask some local shops what they'd charge to cut a hole.

I think I'm just trying to push CF hood because I'm so happy w/ my new one... Give me a break, I just got it.... LOL

Seriously though, it shouldn't be that expensive, but I'd definitely take it to a pro, unless you're damn sure you're not going to mess up drilling into your hood...!!!

People 'might laugh' for doing a bunch of things...meh. It's somewhat functional, and I miss not looking over a big cowl (Trans Am LT1 then later LS1, the latter with the RAII hood...hmm...)...so I'm doing it. And yes, I intend to have it done at a pro shop! lol No Sawzall for me, thanks.

Pros:

Looks nice.. lets cold air in

Cons:
Scoobish
and don't forget.. if you do that you might want to add spacers to the back of your hood or the hot air is trapped in there... i'm thinking if you mounted a smaller scoop the opposite way it would be much more beneficial... Cold air comes in... hot air rises out.. simple physics... or ... some type of science

don't forget too.. taht the scoobies havea top mount intercooler.
