When most people buy a car, it's just a car. But when an enthusiast buys a car, they throw their lot in with that company and wear their alleigence on the outside. That's why the SRT-4 owners will defend that vehicle to death, and why we are more than happy to kill them. 
But as for Lancer vs. Evo owners, I think the division lies within the public perception of what the car does. The Evo is a racer, through and through. Evo owners pay for that in higher car payments, maintenance and insurance. I think than generally, they revel in their unique status on the roads.
The rest of the Lancer family of cars are just that. Cars. And not too expensive to boot! But they just happen to look ALOT like the Evo... So we make our $20000 car look even more like their $40000 car and BOOM. It makes their Evo that much less special in their eyes. I mean, why pay so much more for something EVERYONE else has?
I don't really know how to sum this up... I guess I'll say that even I think it's a little silly to see people try to turn their ES, OZ and Ralliart Lancers into baby Evo's, although I admit that I think that the Evo is awesome and that Mitsu should really make the Ralliart (as the high level "regular" Lancer) at least look a bit closer to the Evo stylewise.
I firmly believe that a car is the way that people express themselves to the world at large, and that you should be free to customize that image as you see fit... be it keeping your ride polished but stock, modding the hell out of it, or ricing it up.

Some people look down at others because they cant afford a $30K car. I for damn sure can't afford that, I can't even afford a $20K car. So it really doesn't matter what others think, I don't care, I do what I can do with the money I have, if I had the $ to spend on an EVO I would in a second, however for now I enjoy driving what I have and moding it with what little money I have.

So what if so one puts an EVO wing on their car, there is still no way in hell a RA is going to out perform an EVO. It doesn't matter as long as the person sporting the EVO wing doesn't put the Evolution badge on their car and claim that it is an EVO.
Well look at it his way, Evo owners put lancer OZ and RA wings on there cars all the time. So what they are a wannabe OZ or RA??? The wing is for looks and just that. Now going as far as taking the body panels and everything on the evo and making it fit the lancer es oz is poinless when you do not have the mods to back it up. If i had a moded to death lancer i would keep it clean so when some punk **** car somes up to me and ask if i wanna race. Ill be like sure but my car isnt very fast and crush his little dreams.

All EVO owners I've met in person have been cool & given me props on my car... Treated like an equal & even more a friend...

That being said, putting a VII wing on a relatively slow car, serves no purpose but to make it ugly. If you put it on an Evo VIII, then it's ugly, but it's adjustable for the track.
Denying me of my right to be an asshoIe and call someone's "expression" ugly is not only unpatriotic, but it is a slap in the face of democracy.
Brave men and women died when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor so that I could have the right to look at a yellow Lancer ES with 14" chrome wheels and a VII wing and call it "the ugliest thing I've ever seen."
I've never posted & never will post denying someone that right...
I mean if you post pictures of your car on this website you're going to find AT LEAST a couple people that think it looks like sh*t... When people cry about it, it's stupid... No one posted your pics for you...
