Did a few searches and didnt find any thing on this so I figured I would throw the Q out there.

Does the stock Oz or RA have any tint in the glass allready? I had a friend who had a s-10 and it had 2% in the window so when he got the legal limit it pushed him over and he had to peel it off when he got pulled over. Dont want this to happen to me. :-/

 

no the only thing that has tent is the sun roof.

Any place you go to get tint applied should be able to take a small piece of the film, stick it to your window, and check the actual % of light that passes through.

If you're that worried about it, don't get the absolute darkest tint your state allows. I plan on getting tint, but I only want about 50%. It's enough to cut the glare on sunny days, but still light enough for night driving.

 

Almost every car has a (subtle) stock tint... and the RA is one of them. So get the glass tested if you want to get to the absolute legal tint. Or, as Myszkewicz already stated, give yourself enough room so that you don't actually go over the limit...

every state has a different law on window tints. You'll Have to search on your states laws about that stuff.

 

I believe the stock tint on the Ralliart is 3% (97% of light is let through)

 

seriously.... i dont think there is any tint on our windows. literally i can look strait though my windows there is no tint what so ever. Even if you get the darkest tint you can still see at night. i have lots of friends that have tint and they are seriously black when you look at it from the outside but when you look out from the inside its like there isnt any tint there. but really i dont think there is tint on our cars.... or maybe just mine dosent.....

 

I don't want to just be able to tell that there's a car behind me because I can (barely) see the headlights shining through my tint. I would like to be able to look in the rearview mirror and see if there's bubble lights on it.

 

NY is 70% its not even worth the trouble for me oh well more money for a radar detector, eyelids, and evo knob

 

Seriouly man, research it... there is a subtle tint on most car's windows these days and the RA is one of them. Maybe roll the window down half way and compare? I don't know... you should be able to see it. I'm too lazy to search for solid info right now... I'd rather go to bed. So I'll let you ponder this by yourself...


It's always a good thing to rely on the senior members for info though (especially otter BTW)... that way you don't spend that much time on things for which we already have an answer. This one is free too...

i have my windows tinted 20%, yall got ur %'s mixed up. the number with the % is how much light goes through. so like mine, only 20% of light goes through. the lower the % the darker it is. exp, limo tint is 5%. on my previous car i had 2% wich is basically black and highly illegal, but i still got away with it. no cops care around here, and inspection dont even bother checking around here either.

 

^ exactly what Workz just said. Just about every car has a tint on it. Though I think it's darker than 97%. Like Workz said, just roll your window down halfway and compare what you see outside your car through both the window and without.
