Serious? I see these on eBay all the time and am considering going wingless with this. I'd have to get a black trunk surround from the dealer to make it look right.

I have the Cerious trunk and am VERY happy with it. Fitment was dead on and I've had it two years no issues yet (needs a good polish though). I can't speak about VIS cause I don't have any CF from them but I know Cerious's products are vaccuum bagged which would be a lot stronger then just hand laying the CF down.

 

how much is the vis trunk? they dont have a price up.

Someone asked about price. On eBay VIS sell for $415 + $150 s/h. They are close to me but don't allow local pickup! But, Cerious trunks are $400 and do allow pickup, so maybe I'll go that route.

 

i like that look...is it just me or is the license plate area look darker than the hood (and just a dumb question but unless you get it painted all carbon fiber is the same color right? theres no darker or lighter cf?) cause i think that looks nice and on their site it says its for the 04-up Lancer...it doesnt specify ralliart is it still compatible?

 

That center piece is NOT carbon fiber. Besides it gets covered by your license plate surround anyway. And all Lancers 04 and up, whether RA or not have the same trunk.

The only issue I can see is that possibly the truck will pop up too fast since the tension bars are rated for a heavier trunk.

 

since i installed the evo 8 wing i noticed the trunk doesnt pop up like it did with the stock wing...obviously because its heavier but im sure it wouldnt come up too fast with the cf trunk

 

The vis trunk in that picture already has the license plate surround and its black (unless that was just for a picture and it doesn't come with that). Cerious performance makes a CF trunk and a separate CF LP surround. So you could get the whole thing CFed if you wanted too. You might want to contact VIS to see if the LP piece comes with it.

 

That would end any chance they had of selling me their product, if I was buying one. Shipping is not only expensive and slow, but greatly increases the chance of it arriving at your door damaged.

 

im sure you could just attach some weights under the trunk so its heavy enough to pop up normally

 

Sorry for the late reply, here are some pics I could find. To my knowledge none of the trunks come with a CF surround you need to use the existing one you have. It's a real PITA to remove. Also the tensioner bars are crazy tight. I had mine removed and replaced with ES ones then heated to expand a bit, still swings up fast. The trunk I got (from Cerious) can't weigh more then 10lbs so it is a night and day difference to the stock one which is pretty heavy.
