why not in the trunk?

I was also thinking of putting a smaller batt. in the car. I was thinking of building a box in the trunk that is all sealed up and safe to have in the trunk with a batt. in it.
When I went to get some things for the shop that I worked for I had about 100lbs. of crap in the trunk of the car and it seemed to handle so much better on the highway. So I figure if the batt. is in the trunk I would loose that weight in the front and place a smaller lighter batt. in the trunk and perhaps balance that out a little more. I was thinking of mounting the box inside the spare tire hole. A smaller batt. would fit in the gap where the jack goes. I already made a different cutout for the floor in the trunk so that I could mount my speakers and toolcase as low as possible. I just have to think about the install more and figure what materials and cables and such to use.
I think that the engine bay would look a lot better without the batt. in it at all. You know.....show off that block and the room that we have to play with in there. If it where in the trunk it might even be able to be entirely hedden (still want to be able to get to it with cables just in case). I am not sure of the height of the box so that is something to be figured when I find the batt. that I want back there.

1) Did you have to trim your stock battery housing in order to fit the Injen CAI like I did?

2) Did this new kit relocate it far enough towards the side of the car to not interfere at all with the CAI anymore?

It looks like it's much more practical as far as working with the Injen CAI than the stock housing was, but I'm just trying to make sure I'm seeing the pictures right that you've got before I make a decision on this one.

It does look good in there though. Thanks!

I didn't have to cut my stock housing to fit the CAI, but the CAI did push right up against it. The picture below should answer your second question. There's about 2-3" of clearance now, which is plenty. I'm actually going to see if I can tweak it enough to get the CAI a bit away from the cooling hose now.

The red wire off the positive (towards back of car) is audio and the other is the grounding kit.

Any idea how long you could listen to stereo with engine off and still start the car? That's the only thing holding me back because I kill about 30min a day doing this.

It's all going to depend on volume and how much current your system pulls.
