New mini battery!
eh it was worth a shot... but yea doesn't seem like much will help the mini battery, its one of the sacrifices you'll have to deal with if you purchase it. Personally i'll be moving my battery to the trunk soon. We'll how well that works out.
With the weight difference, you could install two of these in the trunk and still only be a little heavier than a stock batt answering the "leaving your high powered system on" question; but who has 500 bucks to spend on a batt? Could that person donate to my "Grant needs coilovers" fund?
bump...not only did my car get broken into recently but i'm also left with a dead battery. my luck sucks... need to get a new one and been thinking about the ppi mini. i've been searching but there really arent that many threads on them.
*upsides- weight savings, space, looks...am i missing anything?
*downsides- less power reserve, not as dependable in colder weather
i was also under the impression that they lasted and held more power than stock batteries but that doesnt seem to be true. then again, i dont have any amps or subs in my car so that wouldnt really matter. shedding 20lbs is alot too...too bad i dont hit the track tho. i think i just talked myself outta buying one lol. anyone know how much a new oem battery costs?

Power reserves are only an issue if you like to play your stereo with the car turned off. Once the car is running, the alternator is powering everything. As for cold weather, I've had no problems thus far, including last week when the car was parked outside overnight in near 0* F weather (below that with wind chill.)
Stock style battery would probably cost somewhere around $80-$100 I'd guess, but really have no idea.

yea, my luck has been pretty crappy as of late. b@stards took my headunit, ipod and some other stuff. i'm actually stupid enough not to have gotten an alarm so i guess i had this coming.
i'm still waiting for the guys at ppi to pick up their phones. otter, how much did u get it for? can u just buy the battery or is the tray a must-have?

You need the tray in order to mount the battery, otherwise it won't be secure.
Just leave a message. PPI is essentially a 1 man operation, their "phones" are/is the owner's cell and he still has a day job.
I don't remember what I paid, I did get a small break due to being the development car, but it still wasn't too far off full price (worth it, IMO)

As otter said I can't always get to my phone. But I WILL call you back. Email's and pm's are good too
On another note we just finished one for a local guys with a 08 lancer. The whole spacing is different. Unfortunately I don't have piqs yet as he hasn't came back around to pick it up. Hopefully I can get some installed piqs soon.
I also put one of my mini battery kits in my forester this fall and I have had zero issues with it starting. I has a large amp and two 12" subs as well. I have never run the radio for more than 5 minutes with the car off.
