Finally Detailed!

Finally had a chance to detail my RA.... Started with a Meguires Claybar, paint cleaner, polish, and Gold Class wax. I have to detail the interior and finish cleaning the rims, but its startin to rain, so back in the garage. Pics are just from my drive way, nothin spectacular, just wanted to get some posted. Let me know what you think!

Claybarring takes off 80% if not all the wax off your car... If i were you i'd toss some wax/polish on all the parts you clayed'.

My detailing process takes 6-7 hours without touching the interior.. It includes a full underbody rinse/soap/scrub with a broom... Then i start from the top down for washing, then full body dry... clay, waxing process (ie wax cleaner/polish/etc), quick detail to finish things up, then wash the windows, rainx them and then do the same wash/clay/wax/polish to the rims and the lip around the rims...

Its a long process, and the car only stays clean for about 2 days until the pollen gets to it, but at least i know its got a good protecting coat on it. I do this about once a month, and each week my car gets a wash, soap, quick wax spray job inbetween detailings...

O yea Meguiars Plastic Polish works really well on our headlights.. though i need to sand them and refinish them again. Probably put a coat of clear on it to help protect it.

Good to know. I finally got around to detailing my car on Sunday (no pictures yet, and it's since be rained on ) and my headlight lens looks like ****. Well, to be fair, everything on the front of my car looks like ****. Bumper is pitted/chipped to hell, and the front of the hood is all chipped. This fall or next spring I'm going to repaint hood, bumper, and lip.

I use the Meguires products too usually all by hand and it's practically an all day event to detail. I love how the Meguires clay bar makes the car glassy smooth and then after it rains the water just beads off the car and you know you've done a good job.

It doesn't fix that.. just makes them clearer, but i bet if you ran it under a buffer with the polish you'd take some of those scratches out permanently... I don't own a buffer yet and hand polish/wax/buff my cars... My arms are huge! haha jk

Soon to own a Porter Cable buffer!
