some new goodies
some new goodies
well i havnt posted any update on my car here for months now and i recently put the car through some changes soo i thought id share. let me start off by telling my recent months story
.
i went with a buddy of mine from work to englishtown racetrack here in NJ about 2 months ago and it was the first time i had ever tracked the car before...wow can i say addicted?!
. soo ive been going every week since up until about 3/4 weeks ago...we were having a heat streak here and it was above 100 degrees at the track on day and i was on my second pass and i ran into some shifting problems. i couldnt figure out what was causing it exactly but i couldnt shift straight into second or fourth, i had to double clutch or let it sit in neutral for a brief second before getting it in. people were telling me it was probably too hot and the clutch was sticking soo i didnt think much of it.
a week goes by and it seemed like it was getting worse and on top of that my rpms started to drop in neutral to about 500/400rpms and the whole car would shake like it was going to stall. me and a bunch of the guys at the service center i work at checked it out and we found out i blew my rear motor mount
, and the shifting problem was possibly a hydraulic issue with the clutchline, the rpms might have been the spark plugs soo i replaced those. then i ordered RRM's lovely solid motor mounts and theyre lower ss clutchline. the motor mounts fixed the vibration a bit not its just a little rough at idle....i dont think we solved the rpms dropping although it doesnt seem like theyre going below 600...and the lower line fixed the shifting problem.
i still wasnt satisfied with the way the car was shifting soo i went ahead and ordered the upper ss clutch line that WORKS sells to replace that crappy rubber line. i also changed the trans fluid out for some fresh GM synchro mesh. the WORKS line just got here yesterday and itll be in by tomorrow evening. the only problem im still having is the rough idle
. and a slight 2nd gear grind going in...i think i need a new 2nd gear snychro?? (what do you guys think?)
well thats my story...oh! and i put on a nice set of slotted rotors and ceramic pads back in may from some ebay company
i cant remember which one but i remember being extremely pleased with theyre service and product...soo on with the pics
. ps all this work only to have the car for sale
the only time slip i saved...best 1/4 mile time i could get...i got my reaction time down to .264 but missed second on a diff. run

man your calipers looks horrible!!!, hehe
the overall car looks cool, Did you take off the spoiler? or someone stole it?
you should get silver plugs, or have the trunk holes sealed and painted...

ya i know the calipers yaaa
thats a story all on its own...the fronts are f'ed up because when i put on the new pads when i did the rotors for some reason the spokes on the rims wouldnt fit clear and it was only by a few millimeters soo i uhh i umm took a file and had at it because i was that broke at the time i couldnt afford spacers
. regardless it still wouldnt clear soo i went ghetto and put a washer over each lug bolt...and yes i made sure theyre were all the exact same size washers
. and the rears? well i never got to repainting them after the salt from the winter ate em up...ill get to it sometime soon maybe this weekend. and as for the spoiler? well my ex gf slammed my trunk soo hard it snapped one of the bolt housings in the spolier right out. i fixed everything but i kinda got used to it looking spoilerless, its going back on soon though either that or getting replaced by a real one.

wait weren't you selling the car? hence the photo's...
How much did the motormounts and lower clutch line cost you. I'm having a similar problem with the shifting. Try bleeding the system a bit more and readjusting your clutch pedal. It may not be full disengaging when you depress the pedal down...

so with a injen CAI and RRM UDP, you cant get below a 15? Im about to pick up the UDP and I already have a CAI, its sad to know ahead of time that I will not even be in the 14s. nice car BTW
