painted my projector headlights

PICS UP!

well i took off my projectors a while back cause i was going to sell the car and part it out but i decided to keep it and i wanted to mix it up a bit. i really like the way the projectors look but i hated that dull black housing sooooo today at work i opened them up and went to town.

method to open: heat gun, cant count how many times i got that hot sticky glue stuck to my fingers...let me tell you, not fun

paint used: gloss black from pep boys and gloss clear coat, it turns out that they looked better (darker and shinier) before the clear coat for some reason...soo i just went ahead and painted another coat of black over the clear and it worked fine. i didnt sand or primer the housings either just painted a few light coats and then a few heavy ones. i also painted the amber corner markers black, im kinda regretting it now because i think it wouldve stood out nice...now its just alll black . if it bothers me enough ill just open up the stock lights and use the ones out of those. oh and i removed the halos as well, on the count they didnt work anymore as it was.

sealant used: sink and bath silicone from home depot, should hold up very nicely ill definitely post up if they ever leak but i used an entire tube for each headlight just to be safe and then used the excess around the outside edge once i put them together.

ill have pics up tomarow

well just did a test fit on them because i was outside for about 5 minutes and the humidity got to them and started to haze them up mainly the right headlight. soo all in all im going to say, fail. my stock headlights are already back on the car and if anyone wants to buy these and idk rip em open and use the projectors for a retro fit or what not by all means make me an offer lol but otherwise theyre going in the garbage

wtf...y are u gonna throw them away??? it SOUNDS like they arent even messed up... if moisture is getting in, drill ONE small hole in the bottom of the head light. for some reason it seems to work... i think you should've kept the amber... Black n amber = SUPER JDM lol there is a such thing as amber spray paint ya know... u can get some at a hobby shop or on ebay... i say just try again

just like i thought...i had to completely wipe my laptop and reinstall EVERYTHING windows, all my drivers, etc. im at my grandparents house right now but i have the pics and ill post them up as soon as i get home later. and as for the amber i know i wasnt going to pain them originally but i figured why not. and ya i know i can always just repaint them or remove the paint with some thinner but its too much of a pita to rip them aparty again soo ill be willing to part with them if someone wants to buy them. pics will be up later i promise guys lol.
