First off, if you are planning on buying a lambo or suicide door kit do some searching for a kit that fits your model. Be aware that if you buy a cheaper kit ($300-700 range) I guarantee you that you WILL need to have work done to it to make it fit and work properly.

Be sure to spend the money on a high quality (probably looking at $1500-3000) that hopefully fits your car. I work at a custom body shop where one guy brought in a lambo door kit for his mustang and there wasn't enough clearance for the door at the fender and the fender had to be cut back and the hinge had to reinforced with some makeshift brackets because it could barely hold the weight of the door. It is a mess trying to get a cheap generic kit to work and it will cost a lot to have it done right.

As far as the door handle needing to be moved, I believe that yes it needs to be moved, otherwise it would extremely tough to open the door from the side the hinge is on.

im really looking to but suicide doors only on the back doors, but im also trying to avoid the body work. in that case poppers are probably my best bet but i thought poppers on just the back doors would be a stupid idea. any thoughts?

why on earth would you want to put these on your car? what's wrong with the way they currently open? IMHO i think they look absolutely ridiculous on most cars and i've especially never seen a good looking 4 door....

Well, even though you don't want body work, smoothing out the front and rear door handles and poppers on both would be cool.

Can you install a popper on a door and still use the handle though? Like use it either or...

you've never seen suicide doors only on the back doors? so that the front and back doors open opposite each other? along the same lines on the rx-8 .

i don't see why not, but moving the door handle opposite the hinge and then putting poppers on seems like useless work.

yeah i've seen it on an rx-8. the rx-8 barely pulls it off and that's only because it's a half door to begin with, and is quite gimmicky rather than functional. i think those kind of mods are such a waste of money and absolutely scream "RICE". how about this. instead of spending $2,000 -$3,000 on a lame door mod, why don't you get yourself a nice turbo kit instead? is there any particular reason why you need your doors to open this way?

the money isnt an issue, my father fabricated the hinges for his 63 lincoln
continental convertible but the handles were already opposite the hinge, so it wouldnt cost much at all to do it. i just figured for such a cheap mod, it would be a unique thing to do.

$2,000-$3,000 is far from being a cheap mod. and if money isn't an issue go buy an evo already... and if by unique you mean exactly like every other riced out piece of crap out on the road then by all means be unique my friend. i have nothing against your wanting to be unique, but if this the way you think you'll achieve it then i feel like you're going to be dissapointed...

i said it was a cheap mod because my father can fabricate each hinge for less than 50 bucks a piece, and its certainly not from my wallet lol. and i have yet to see any car , yet alone a lancer with them. sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for the advice, ill look for something else to do thats unique and less RICE, thanks again.

To each their own.

I actually think it would look cool and be unique, at least in the Evo community but I'm an all around guy. I like the show as much as the go.

Go for it!

Shaved handles all around would be my vote.

you've never seen any other car with lambo or suicide doors on it? lol... i find that really hard to believe. and if your father can do it for 50 bucks a piece then go at it. if he can do a good job and give you exactly what you want for 50 bucks then i would say that is money well spent. but if you were to pay the "normal" price for this kind of a mod, well, like i said, i wouldn't get your hopes to high. good luck nonetheless. post some pics when it's all done.
