For pure sound quality I would go with eclipse decks. Alpine I think has the next on decks. I have an alpine deck that cost me about 370+/- that is mp3/cd-rw. The mp3 is the only thing that steered me away from eclipse(only their lower end deck has it). But for subs and amps I think you just need to go with what sounds good. I just have a 10 because I don't want tons of bass, but if you want a lot of bass then go with a couple 12's and a decent sized amp. My thoughts on amps would be RF, Sony, JL, Eclipse, Alpine should all be fine, basically as long as they bring enough power they should be fine. Like I said, I would just go with what subs you like the sound of. Like was mentioned above I would not go with Sony decks. My brother had one that the display went out on, he got it replaced and the display went out again. One of my friends also has a sony deck that keeps doing that as well.

I agree with Stephen. If you want sound quality, it's either gonna be Alpine or Eclipse. I've always stuck with Alpine because I find their features more useful and they seem more easy to use.

And....I've heard TERRIBLE things about Sony. Particularly XPLOD products. As far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't trust any type of head unit you can get on clearance from Best Buy.

Nakamichi is the king, then the 8 volt eclipse IMO. I got the cd400 in my bmw and it kicks sooooooo much ***. Granted it dosent look like much and dosent have all the bells and whistles, but for PURE SOUND QUALITY, thats my pick. In my lancer I have a Kenwood 919 both cars have full Focal phases both front and rear, 2 Lanzar opti drives and both cars also have polk momos to full in the gaps. all and all, you have to decide what you want from your car audio system. If you want High school bass or you want grown up sound quality. If you want both 80% of the time it costs more money than you would like to spend. Btw: Keep away from sony.

Alpine is the way to go in my opinion, good quality and sound.
The 2004 Alpine gear looks really good they moved away from the black and green color scheme, and their high end decks have multiple color patterns.

I am against sony in its entireity (spell?) that includes all of there home audio and camcorders/computers/moniters/TV's and whatever other garbage products they put out. (sry about the bashin'.....needed to vent.....) BTW I agree with BlackLancer2k2 Boston is top, what are you running? and what are you pushing it with? I am currently running the Pro Comp 6.5s with the tweets in the A-pillar, powered by a JL Audio 300x2, and comming soon another 300x2 and the Z's in the kick panels....

don't have an RA, but I would like to say Dew - LOVE your avatar "hump, death, hump death"

I personally love Pioneer - for Headunits. As of right now, for a system, I have mostly Crossfire stuff, with the exception of Powerbase subs. Eventually I will be crossing over to ALL crossfire......unless the Treo amps coming out won't be that outrageously priced
