I was toying with the idea of underbody LED's as well, and noticed someone else had posted that they had success buying from E-Bay...

Actually, the seller had a website called www.autorice.com, but I've since noticed that they don't carry the LED underbody's on their site any longer, since they sold out of them. He carried them for $60, and shipping was around $30, which is a great deal no matter which way you look at it. (Especially if we have people saying how good they look here!)

Does anybody have close up pics of what the LED tubes look like? I was toying with an idea of building some up - other than the time it would take to chain 100 high intensity LED's together, and build some type of plastic guard tube, I don't see a big issue with 'DIY'.

Post PICS!

Thanks!

Well they're fine so long as you use them for show. I mean if you're in a parking lot with friends, at home, or in a residential It's not a big deal. But of course if you're dumb enough to drive down a highway with them on then you'll get pulled over and fined. At the IN n OUT Burger here in Sacramento there's always a Sherriff who keeps people from loitering and he doesn't say anything to the people who are parked with their neons on. But as soon as you go driving off the lot you need to turn them off. That's the only issue. Just don't be dumb.

same thing here in az, its not the fact it is impersontaing a police office, it is the fact that they are not dot approved lighting systems, (dont ask me), just turn them off when you drive youll be fine. p.s. i have a yellow RA, going with red or yellow neon, still deciding if yellow would actually look good, so if anyone has seen yellow neons, let me know. and buy on ebay, good stuff for cheap

Actually what I found to look nice (someone did it to an eclipse) if your going to do any neon is to put it behind the vent opening in the front...it makes that mouth in the front glow....looks nice.

looking to put red neons on my yellow ralliart one day.

chief.. i have seen yellow neons at streetglow.com they have just about any color you want. i think yellow neons on a yellow car is a little over kill personally though but anyways.. they have an interactive color chart on there that shows you a pic of a fake car with yellow neons coming from underneath it (or whatever other color you choose) might want to check it out.

for the illegal thing... just check with one of your local cops.
I asked a sargent when he was shopping in Wal-Mart (he had his uniform on so I thought I could bug him)
he said only red or blue FRONT facing light where illegal in our area.

since the street glows are 'pointed' down, it's not illegal.

Any color is legal here in KY/Ohio, as long as you cannot see the actual neon-bar itself. That could constitue impersonating an officer/emergency vehicle/ etc. I had bright-*** green Gold Series on my old black car, drove with them all the time without problems.

Definitely check with your local laws first. Also, seems like the LED ones wouldn't 'glow' as much, since LEDs have very straight directional light

I have Plasma Glow Fusion LED's under my RA. They are hot. I'll post some pics here in a few days. LEDs are def. the way to go.

Another idea is the front. I have LED windscreen jets, LED parking lights and a neon under the front grill. Have a look.
