My Rrm Cai Installed
Took about an hour and a half to two hours simply because we stripped the bolts that were in the MAS. So we had to run to ACE HARDWARE and have them remove the screws for us. That's the only setback we had... Other then that, it was pretty simple. I'm impressed with how the CAI sounds, looks a little tacky under the hood IMO. And the only thing I really dislike is how RRM's intake weighs a freakin ton. It weighs 7 pounds. And the pipes get very hot. VERY HOT!
And I simply think it looks tacky just because we use the stock hose. Other then that it looks great. And it sounds amazing. So don't think I'm doggin' RRM because I'm not. I love the HP gain especially in second. Second seems to rip pretty fast. AND IT SCREAMS! I was shocked with how loud it gets once you break Mivec. It whistles like a supercharger from about 2,000-3,500 rpm's and after 4,000 rpm's this thing sounds very mean. I have loud exhaust and you can't even hear the exhaust over the intake when I gun it.
I kept all the heatshields on under the car except for the one directly under the driver side headlight. This gives me way better airflow and helps the CAI breathe alot better then it would if you left the heatshield on. If you're not in a place where it snows, or so long as there's not huge puddles in the street, I'd recommend taking it off. It helps alot. I'm in Sacramento Cali and the weather has been nothing but beautiful lately. 75-85 degrees for two weeks straight.

I have the CAI installed on my car as well, and I had the same problem with the MAS screws, but I was able to get them out on my own and put some new ones in. I also dont like how the CAI sits against the rad hose, seems to be counter productive to heat the intake pipes with the hose. And I didnt like how the end of the filter rested on the back of the fog lamp, and i had some banging where the intake was hitting the frame right near the filter. Other than that it's been great, sounds great, a very noticeable performance upgrade, and with the sound it makes, you feel like you're going twice as fast as you really are.
Hey pocoRa how much did the CAI cost?
I'm sort of debating on getting it, im just worried about customs/shipping.
Some questions, does it sit in there firm, or does it bounce around?
Can you make it into a short ram if you wanted to?

It cost me $315CDN including shipping from RRM, and then I had to pay UPS $55CDN to receive the parcel. RRM marked the value on the parcel at like 80 bucks american, so that's why it was only 55bucks which is still alot if you ask me, but it couldve been 120 or so. It was more than I wanted to pay, but ive been happy with the intake so far.
It bolts in there pretty firm so it doesnt bounce around, I was having problems with banging from when the motor would torque and the the motor would move like a 1/4 of an inch or whatever and the pipe from the intake would hit the frame of the engine compartment.
And it's possible to just stick the filter on the end of the first pipe and make it like a short ram, but I'm not sure where you would be able to have the filter rest. Maybe in front of the motor. but then it would be above the exhaust manifold.
