Lightbulb Hid??

Just wondering here. I changed my headlights to HID; however, my daytime running light & high beam do not work at all after I did it. Is this normal? If it's not, what's wrong? Are there any specific HID for Lancer 03?

most Hid's do not have a high/low beam..i'm guessin the ralliart has the same 9007 headlights like we do..
i got hid's for mine as well and had to settle for no high beams..only way to have high beams as well is to have a car that has separate low/high beam bulbs..like 9005, 9006 etc..

So when I turn on the high beam, all the lights will go out? So this is normal? Or should the HID remain lit when I turn on the high beam, just that there's no change? Thanx!!!

The Japanese Version of the ralliart comes stock with an HID kit and I may look into it to get for my car. The only concern would be getting the correct shields for the lights (US spec lights shields aim away from opposing traffic towards the shoulder) which would probably be as simple as adjusting the other direction.. Don't know if we can get it but it would be a kit made for the car which is LEGAL...the aftermarket kits are not legal in the US to sell anymore. Because they do make a kit for the car though it may be possible to get it and still have it dot compliant because it is factory made and not a Katz or whatever kit which tend to blind people because the lights have no shield like an OEM kit would on a BMW for example. Either way be careful on what you buy and no matter what anyone tells you the original blue light from an OEM HID d2s/D2r is 4300k-4500k ...anything higher is fake and bogus..

Hi ButterPig ... unless you bought a set of bi-xenon HID's or did some kind of retrofit with multiple bulbs the highbeams will no longer be available (as others have already mentioned) ... you could always turn on your lowbeams for DRL I guess.

My HID (conversion kit) for my RA I did last weekend is actually the opposite in function to what some of you have done. I ended up wiring the HID's to my highbeams to get it working properly.

When I hooked it up originally (with a low beam trigger wire) I ended up getting a strobing effect. This would stop and actually power up correctly when I turned on "low beams". At this point, I suspected that the low beams were actually used for DRL's and I confirmed this from the owners manual. I guess DRL's were feeding a low voltage signal which my ballast tried to use but the voltage wasn't high enough to maintain the function of the ballast - hence the strobing.

Anyway I plan to setup a relay system this weekend to get it back to a low beam setup since I don't like having to flick it to high beam settings everytime I need HID's at night ... and hopefully the relay system will provide a cleaner power source to the ballasts since I've been experiencing some weird voltage fluctuations which can be seen as pulsations in the HID bulbs ... or it could just mean my ballasts/bulbs are screwed up already

As for the DRL's, I will wire up my fogs to be the DRL's. The only problem is that the "Flash to pass" high beam function is still not accounted for - and there's no way I will setup my HID's to do that since that will just kill the HID capsules sooner that it should. Maybe I'll just get a set of cheap driving lights or whatnot and stick them in the grill for this function.
