mesh grill?...cheap man's solution:
Pre manufacture step: chug a beer
1. rip the screen out of your apartment window
2. chug a beer
3. remove the current grill inserts from car.
4. trace an outline of the grill inserts onto the screen
5. chug a beer, then carelessly cut out the screen in along the traced pattern
6. hop into vechile, drive to local Walmart, buy 1 can of chorme paint, go home and spray paint the cut out screen...if you want chrome inserts, otherwise substitute this step for another beer
7. place screen in postion, use hot glue gun to secure screen into place.
8. chug a beer and admire "quality" craftsmenship*

^^^HAHAHA! Thats good.
I talked to guys at South Coast Mitsu about the Evo mesh grill and they told me it was just chicken wire. Go to home depot and spend $20 and do it yourself. That is pretty much all that Mitsu does with the Evo.

I call the dealer here and got a price quote of $210. He says they have a bunch in stock but they aren't selling as much as they would like (no crap $210 dollars for $20 snap-in plastic is like spending $10 on a simple bic pen). So there is the price I got. If anyone has a better price or detailed instructions on a conversion on our current inserts (no offence Khobin~, but that isn't quite as detailed as I would like
) then please post it.

OK, so after a lot of thought I bit the bullett last night and modified my current grill inserts to be mesh. To get he stock gril inserts out; take out the pop rivits uesing a small screw driver to pop out the inside part then remove the rivit, next there are 4 plastic clips (like the push clip on the fuse box only much harder to press) holding in the gril, one where the gril hits the area of the mitsu symbol, and the other three go along the bottom of where the gril meets the bumper (feel around you'll find them), you have to press\sqeeze the tab pretty good and then move the gril foward at the point; I took my time I didn't want to break anything. Parts cost me $15 at lowes. I bought 36" long hinged gutterguard made by gutter world, 4 6" fine tooth copeing saw blades (came in a pack), cutoff wheels for my dremmel, satin black spray paint, and a bag of the shortest sheet metal screws I could find that didn't slip through the mesh. I used the copeing saw blades and the motor tool the cut out the slats in the stock gril inserts and then sanded them down to level. Next I traced the outside diameter on of the inserts on a peice of paper and transfered it to the gutter guard, then useing the motor tool I cut out the shapes. Sitting down and taking my time I started at the top of the gutter guard and started to bend it in two openings deep at the top, I cut at the cornors where needed to bend the other sides in (though they only got about one opening at the bend). Then I carefully lined up the borders of my inserts with the border on the gril and marked 4 spots to dril a pilot hole for the screws. Next I painted the bent inserts (I would suggest priming first, I wish I had, but I can touch up later). While the paint dried I drilled the holes for the screws (carefull with the top ones you dont want to go through the top) and threaded a screw in each hole. Next I cut the screws down to a shorter legnth so they will be flush with the outer border of the plastic. When the mesh was dry I put it in place and put in the screws cutting of any extra coming out of the plastic (carefull, you can easily over heat the plastic while cutting a screw in it and it will melt and the screw will come out, I suggest cutting for a few seconds then pull away and cool under water then dry quick and continue). Once the mesh was inplace I put several more coats of paint on the front and back to get a even coating. Attached are the results; not profesional, but not bad either.
