Different Turbo Setups

Hello, I was just wondering what is the different between two turbo setups, one, the RRM setup, and the other, Essential Speeds setup. I just wanted some pros and cons on the two setups. Thanks.

Essential Speed:

RRM:

I hope you don't mind that I just linked the pics for faster comparison. I head that someone said that the Essential Speeds Kit had too many 90 degree bends. I'm just trying to get some feedback.

Totally depends what you want man

Road race has a lot of engineering in there kit a littlle more money but i think its way more worth it. they use a better manifold design incorperate and external wastegate. just better kit all together plus numbers for the essential kit since everyone on this board talks nbumbers its like 196 or smoehting super lame

Thanks

i dont like how log type(essential) manifold look, im sure theres a reason why RRM didnt go with that, and what the guy above me said

log types are ususally a little less efficient, but are a hell of alot easier to make.

for the most part ES's kit is made to run on factory settings as far as I can tell. You can go /w low boost (up to 5 or 6 psi, probably) without retiming. It really limits you, but you will feel a difference and ES has to do much less work.

the RRM kit includes the electronics, which is our the holy grail for ralliart FI right now. as far as
'design'? smaller turbo = less total power potential but quicker spool time. IE: each rev of the turbo pushes less air, but it requires less force to start pushing air. It depends if you want your power down low or up high. I think the 16 is a good ballance at moderate boost. Dunno about teh 28 on very low boost, though.

I was just wondering, what makes the log style less efficient? Sorry, I'm a newbie to turbo setups. I thought it's just air, and as long as the air can get out fast enough, everything will be fine. That's why I'm wondering on what the differences are. Espically with the manifolds.

not equal length and doesnt flow as well cause the air is just crammed all at once...

essentials kit does include electronics every turbo ralliart needs timming retarding even if only like 1 psi, and must add fuel specially canadian cars

Thanks

there is alot behind it.

when a cylindar shoots its exhaust, it comes out in a pulse. if you have 4 cyls, u get 4 pulses, but never have more than 1 pulse at a time (they are all staggered). by having 4 equal runs, you can cause the pulses to get to the turbine one after another to give a even stable flow. with the log design, the exhaust just spills into a chamber that the turbo feeds off of. if you have spool lag, you can see how this slows things down. you need to produce more pressure in this big chamber to turn the turbo. and its less concistant and smooth.

and it sucks thats why i built mine like how i did plus you get the best holding boost with wastegate cauase it takes it from the collector off all 4 primaries instead of roadraces... i would think it would creep at 12 psi in 5th ...

Thanks
