going turbo?

is going turbo worth it if i drive so much? i mean, i drive from school, to work, to home.. and i HAVE to get gas every 3 days already.. estimating about 10 bucks a day on gas.. i'm confused whether it's worth it.. i mean the power is great. but realistically speaking for gas consumption and engine longetivity, is it worth it to you?

Way I look at it is, what else could/would you be doing with the money? If there's nothing more important, go for it. That's how I see gas. It's something I have to pay for, it will always be there, I just don't worry about it.

well i can throw in around 2000 of N/A mods, and have a little go for the fun of it without sacrificing too much MPG.. and i'll still have 2300 for gas for like the rest of the year (sarcasticly guessing). i know i sound like i'm trying to argue with having my mind set. but it's not. and i would really like everyones opinions.

well correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just do your best to stay off the boost and you should be fine!

To me it's not worth it. The gas consumption issue can be avoided by staying off the boost (if you have tons of self-control.) However, the reduction in engine life isn't worth the trade-off when driving so much. If I could afford a turbo, I'd be in the same boat (drive 400+ miles per week) and I would not do it.

IMPOSSIBLE to stay off boost! Every freeway on-ramp is just another good excuse. My gas millage is about the same on long freeway runs, however with all city driving and liberal use of the boost gauge, I prob average 20-22mpg.

I only drive 25miles a day, but if my trips where consistently as long as yours, prob not a good idea. I'd rather have the reliability. Save that money for a good down on a factory turbo'd car.

If you cannot afford it do not do it. If you car is transportation then it should stay that way but if you got a HARD ON and do not know where to put it........ BOOST.

45,000 miles on stock engine Turbo, no problems yet. At 50k I will refresh the engine pistons, rods & main bearings and will be good for 100K+'s just bc's I will want to hit 400whp. A well tuned 4g69 with turbo kit at 8psi with 11 A/F will probably last 100K before rebuilt.

yeah i was thinking of turbo, but i figure now, coz of the costs involved it would be better for me to learn more, wait till i get older and insurance is better and trade in for an 08 ralliart, AWD and stcok turbo!!!

MAn Go for it, if you spend 2000 on your car on N/A parts, you wont be even near of running what you run with a Turbo,

Also if you modified too much you car N/A you will still kill your MPG, believe me, well not at all if you can drive it on 1,000 to 2,000 RPM all the time hehe

if I had the money i will go with the turbo, but i dont have it, i dont want to spend too much on my car N/A setup cause i know it wont run that much, compared to the $$ spend, but i just cant drive a stock car...

So GO for the TURBO forget about the GAS and all that, live you life in the present , dont think about the Past or the Future

Yeah you will never stay off the boost. I know I wouldn't.
