turbo help

hey,
currently doing a turbo build for my RA, and bought a t3/t4 turbo
but i think something is weird
i think the turbo is "backwards"
if u see in the pic below it shows the flange that hooks up to the manifold which is normal, but on that same side its the oil drain said?
coz its bigger than the other which is the oil feed

so how i initially planned to mount it goes out the window coz dont i need the oil feed hole on top and drain on the bottom,
so what i need to know is how hard would it be to rotate it around how i want it

can i just undo the bolts on the side and rotate it, or should i take it to a shop and see if they can do it?

also, on the turbo there is a hole, usually where a wastegate door should be(where my finger is in), but there isnt one on there and doesnt have an actuator so im going external WG, so what do i do with the hole, just weld it up?
thanks
-Steven

You should be able to rotate it I have done that before but take it to a speed shop just to be sure

see those bolts that hold the housings... take them off or just 'unlockthem' and rotate the middle part if thats your concern.

did you ever figure out what the hole was for? This is the first time I have been able to see the pics, they are blocked at work

im pretty confident it is a hole for an internal wastegate as it is on the part where u would connect the dp but before the wheel
ie this flange would fit it: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/STEEL-T3-T4-T...QQcmdZViewItem

but since im gonna go external wg, i think ill get this flange and just cover up the hole: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/STEEL-T3-T4-T...QQcmdZViewItem

hopefully that is better than welding, so if im not ment to it can be reversed

Yeah that hole is there for the internal wastegate, if you had one and the flange that goes there, you would have a little trap door inside that housing wich covers the hole until the boost pressure is reached then would open to let the eahxuat pass by....but if you are going with and external wastegate then you need to block that hole up

On a side note good luck with the project, nice to see more lancer's going turbo

That is completely normal you just buy the flange for the exhaust and it will block the hole. Or you can buy the internal WG actuator-flange assembly if you want to go that setup.
